What I'm trying to say is that, it's not a made up problem and while I feel that the term they used might be a bit dramatic, it still gets the general message across that because most of the world is only familiar with two genders, the non-binary tree of genders isn't as officially recognized

Intentionally or not, they're just stating a discrepancy in how the world views non-binary people versus how some feel internally or express themselves as. As non-binary does not always mean genderless. It's an institutional problem on how non binary people are viewed vs people "pissing them off"
