“Clean core” feels like WRICEF 2.0, an easy way to classify and manage in silos. Infrastructure once took months to procure and build, so it made sense to do in isolation. Now it’s a click of a button. Getting rid of agility is not very transformative when you end up back with old ways of working.

Been talking to customers diving into BTP, a lot feel basis lead, all platform no strategy. They dictate tools to SIs and confuse “clean core” with a dev framework. It’s taxonomy not strategy. The “Field of Dreams” approach just pushes complexity and tech debt down the stack where it goes unnoticed.

Mystery solved! CHIPs removed in S/4HANA 2020 makes sense - they were Enterprise Portal legacy. Interesting that CommonDataModel still uses tags for convention over configuration, just with a cleaner implementation. Same concept, different tech stack.

I think the concept goes back to Enterprise Portal and TREX, where you can search by tag in the Netweaver / Enterprise Search to find business objects and apps / views
