I've been playing with a slack bot integration with EventCatalog MCP server, which lets you ask questions about your architecture directly in slack.
Ask about your domains, schemas, runtime metrics, ownership, on call folks... anything you want. Also bring your own model + tools
Pretty fun!
I added a thing π
You can now define messages at a domain level (not just service level) in EventCatalog.
This let's you define domain events, and define how your domains interact with each other, and let your services be implementation details of that.
Some users have been asking. Hope it helps
You can now embed IcePanel diagrams into EventCatalog
www.eventcatalog.dev/blog/eventca...
I added a small quality of life improvement to EventCatalog.
You can now reference any resource using bracket syntax (e.g [[service|OrderService]]), to get this nice hover effect.

I added diagrams as a new resource type to EventCatalog.
Bring any diagram you want to EventCatalog (Miro, IcePanel, Mermaid, PlantUML, etc) and assign them to domains, services and messages....
All diagrams can be versioned and compared too.
Also you can copy diagrams to clipboards for LLMS.
What happens what you change the contract of your event? Who is going to be impacted? Who should be notified?... this can be answered with EventCatalog π₯Ή
Soon you will be able to change any schema (JSON, Avro, Proto, from any registry too) in your IDE and ask who will be impacted by this change....
not yet! but will take a look, thanks!

Here is a quick demo of some mermaid and plantuml diagrams, versioned, assigned to a domain, and compared against each other π
Dark mode and themes coming soon to EventCatalog.
I love how this is looking π, thanks to Claude Code it's saved me weeks of work so far!
I released a new major version of EventCatalog β€οΈ
Navigation improvements, caching improvements and general quality of life
Hope it helps!

I've been working on more integrations for EventCatalog.
You can now connect your Azure Schema Registry to EventCatalog to sync your schemas with your docs.

Recently I have a few thoughts about EventStorming. Can we get more value from it's output?
I always loved the idea of taking an image of a EventStorm and generating an EventCatalog....
Here is what I found, with a working example, if anyone is interested

Kicking off Monday with a new plugin for EventCatalog.
This will take your @graphql.org
schemas and turn them into documentation for your architecture, visualize it, assign owners and much more...
Hope it helps, anyone interested β€οΈ

My next project with EventCatalog is now live β€οΈ
Introducing EventCatalog Studio.
A design tool that focuses on architecture primitives, rather than boxes and lines.
It's early days, and I can't to learn from folks and make the project better for everyone.

Do we need another diagram tool? Maybe not⦠But I think we can do better
My thoughts on the pitfalls of diagram tools today, the value lost, and why we can do better.

Thoughts? Useful? Missing anything?
Love your feedback
Many folks building event-driven architectures, end up in some level of chaos.
I wrote up some quick thoughts here, and some resources and actions you can do today to help you.
Hope it can help!

I've been reflecting on event-driven architecture, problems in the eco-system and what needs to change.
Tldr; It's a mess, but we can do better π

August brought a welcome change of pace as many took well-deserved summer breaks β€οΈ
While things were quieter overall, I stayed focused on two key areas: advancing EventCatalog Studio and strengthening the core platform.
www.eventcatalog.dev/blog/eventca...
Last summer break doneπ
Time to refocus, and nail Q4 this year.
Plans
βοΈ Launch EventCatalog Studio
βοΈ Talks in conferences
βοΈ Reach 10k MMR through FOSS
βοΈ More integrations for EventCatalog
βοΈ xRegistry Support
βοΈ Make EventCatalog even better β€οΈ
Let's GO!
EventCatalog now supports webrtc channels β€οΈ
Focusing on architecture and messaging primitives allows us to build tools that can help many architecture types, patterns, and various different channels.
Hopefully it helps!
