Getting ingredients for her would be a breeze. He knew the house's ins and outs better than anyone else (with the exception of its owner, of course!)

Similarly, Rex paused as the blade's hand slipped from his. A sudden feeling of longing momentarily interrupting his intent to help.

Palm slowly opened and closed as he watched Pneuma search the kitchen.
And also like her, he'd survive this brief separation.

Tora says his grandpa invented the air fryer. I don't know if I believe him.

"I think this might be a new record for ya, Nia." Rex chuckled, mimicking the playful gesture.

"Two whole compliments without making fun of me! You sure you're feelin' alright?" After another laugh came a wide smile;

"Good to see you again, Nia. How've you been holdin' up?"

"I remember tryin' some at the inns we stayed at back then. They were good, but they weren't the same. Not like the homemade stuff."

Honestly, it shocked him that he'd never asked her about making them before!

"It's still early," replied the salvager, "wouldn't hurt to have breakfast."
A free hand scratched the bridge of his nose as eyes gazed upward—a sign he was in thought.

"You ever make pancakes before? Auntie used to make 'em a lot when I was little."

He outstretched an arm to Pneuma, his wide smile on full display as he offered to head out as they always did—together.

It truly was. Cooking as sharp and incredible as her combat skills, better than any luxury restaurant!

At least, that's what Rex thought. He never found the right words to say this to her, so his appetite for the blade's cooking did the talking for him.

"I'm ready to head out when you are!"

Rex visibly perked up at the idea of a homemade meal, eyes sparkled the same as when he'd salvaged some rare treasure.

Food prepared by Pyra was 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 preferred to dining out. If he hadn't made it obvious before, he sure had just now.
