Section from retraction notice dated 23 December 2025.

"On 24 January 2025, we were notified by the research integrity officer of the University of Minnesota that an investigation into concerns about image manipulation in Fig. 1G had been completed. The investigation found that the concerns raised were valid and that the figure as published did not accurately reflect the research record. To correct the literature, the University of Minnesota recommended that the publication be retracted. In light of this recommendation and given our loss of confidence in the paper, Science Signaling is retracting the paper in full."

Can the editor of Science Signaling explain why it took 11 months to retract a paper by the LesnΓ© group after being requested to do so by the authors' institutional research integrity officer, who confirmed published figure did not represent research record. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

There seems to be a decrease in the coverage of affiliation metadata in #OpenAlex, particularly with regard to journal articles published by Elsevier since 2024. Only around 6% of Elsevier articles published in 2025 have affiliation metadata.

I came round to thinking that 'Open' should flow from some fundamentals Inc rights, integrity, reward, author ownership for their personal dissemination and use (where, when, to whom, etc), equity, etc. ie open as a result, not as an end in itself.
