The new NHMRC and MRFF Open Science Policy is a big expansion on previous open access publishing mandates. Emphasis on FAIR data across the lifecycle

15.01.2026 11:52 β π 2377 π 613 π¬ 73 π 95Section from retraction notice dated 23 December 2025. "On 24 January 2025, we were notified by the research integrity officer of the University of Minnesota that an investigation into concerns about image manipulation in Fig. 1G had been completed. The investigation found that the concerns raised were valid and that the figure as published did not accurately reflect the research record. To correct the literature, the University of Minnesota recommended that the publication be retracted. In light of this recommendation and given our loss of confidence in the paper, Science Signaling is retracting the paper in full."
Can the editor of Science Signaling explain why it took 11 months to retract a paper by the LesnΓ© group after being requested to do so by the authors' institutional research integrity officer, who confirmed published figure did not represent research record. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

I'm sympathetic to #NIH-funded authors who want to publish in #APC-based #OpenAccess journals and can't find the money to pay the APCs. But it's false to say that they must publish in those journals, in any other APC-based OA journals, or even in OA journals. Shame on _Inside Higher Ed_ leaving [β¦]
