Interested in the intersection of politics and media. Vengeance Democrat. GenX. Mostly learning and hitting that like button. I block a lot. No time to argue with misinformed attention-seekers, grifters, or their white knights

This was exactly my question too. It seems reasonable to suspect a town of 400k high wage earners looking to isolate themselves from society at large will eventually seek to takeover Suisun government and force its will on the surrounding area.

There is nothing Democrats could ever possibly do that would get these people to stop lying about them.

Shit like this is why I tell people that SURJ is the most disappointing org I've ever tried to work with. If you were useless, it would be an improvement.

Imagine someone with zero accomplishments in your field following you around work all day making smug, ignorant criticisms and constantly disparaging you at every turn because they own some stock in your company and thus feel entitled to bash you all day. Total loser behavior.

Quote from the linked article. “In the long run, this ruling may lead to a more collaborative approach between the White House and Congress on trade policy. Without the ability to act unilaterally under IEEPA, the administration must now build legislative consensus for its trade agenda—a tall order in the current political climate, but one that could ultimately lead to more durable and predictable international economic relations.”

A tall order indeed. This is gonna drive our 🤡 👑 insane 😆

I’m opposed to doing things that don’t meaningfully save consumers money (18 cents per gallon is at best a $2 savings) while driving down funds for road repair significantly and in an attempt to gain a political advantage for Dems that they won’t actually get.

See now THIS is a legit reason to criticize any Dems who get on board with this nonsense.

it's easy to sit on our perch of non-responsibility and tell democrats they should let the bankruptcies and bodies pile up as high as possible for the hypothetical political reward they get for it, I imagine it's a lot harder when you're getting calls about how many constituents are losing it all

What does saying "I'm anti-war" when the candidate/president is pro-fascist? He promised a revenge tour, has openly idolized and sought out alliances with dictators who routinely engage in violence against their own people. Why did they think this outcome wasn't probable?

A whole lotta people interpreted, "I'm just going to let Putin do whatever he wants" as being generically anti-war.

Softball questions. No follow ups (like when he lied about Collins sending him to combat). As expected from this “news” organization.

Military
Platner enlisted in the Marine Corps shortly after graduating from high
school in 2003.['1] He attended the Marine Corps School of Infantry, then
deployed to Iraq in 2005.[6] He served a total of eight years in the military,
including three combat tours in Iraq, in areas including Ramadi and
Fallujah.[121 Asked why he served in the Iraq War after protesting it,
Platner said, "I thought I could do some good. And I wanted to play
soldier. I might have read too much Hemingway."[13]

Collins didn’t vote to send him to Iraq. He enlisted *after* the US invasion of Iraq, because he wanted to go to Iraq.

"Joe Biden pulled off perhaps the greatest oil trade of all time and in the process broke OPEC's grip and basically no one knows about it."

Yup. Joe Biden was an amazing President who made this country stronger and its people more secure. And he gets ZERO credit for it. It's infuriating.

It’s why I laugh when people say chat bots tell lies. Like people don’t constantly spread misinformation online, destroying our shared reality.

Crazy how Janet Mills literally defended trans athletes and told Trump to meet her in court and WON, but apparently Platner said something on a podcast so that makes him more qualified. Sure.

Mastodon still exists. Has features missing when the twitter exodus occurred. Still actually distributed. Entire instances can just be blocked if a bunch of a-holes are there.

so Janet Mills was on the board of directors of a civil rights organization for 20 years, and while it was a women's rights org her co-founder of The Maine Women's Lobby, Lois Galgay Reckitt was a Lesbian and the origination fought for LGBT rights

20 years worth of work shows she fucking care.

Let’s use #InternationalWomensDay to show that we Democrats still understand its principle:

The world will never heal without the talent and leadership of qualified, effective, powerful women.

Janet Mills is such a woman.

I would like to give a round of applause to the NEW DEMOCRATIC PARTY! Where racism, misogyny, homophobia and any other hate is explained by accident.

Don’t forget ageism 😃 That one doesn’t even need to be explained. It’s just totally acceptable now.

It is (correctly) fashionable to hate Fetterman now, but a lot of online leftists deliberately memory-hole the fact that he was their preferred candidate, and do no introspection about that at all. Don't ask what lessons might be learned about populism or being 'anti-establishment.'

Tell me the steps you are taking to ensure democrats regain the majority.

Because getting on SM and yelling at elected democrats to do things they've either, 1) already done or 2) don't have the power to do actually depresses voter turnout which is counterproductive.

Venezuela 2.0. Still blows my mind that there was barely any blowback to that. I think their current boldness is probably a direct result of the lack of consequence in Venezuela.

John Oliver felt obligated to slip in some Democrat bashing, as usual.

Gotta maintain street cred with the marks who voted us into this shit.

Fuck him. And I’ll say it to his face.

It just would be nice for people to focus on the fucking lunatics assassinating/abducting foreign heads of state for a little while.

The Dem obsession is childish.

Not centrist Dems. FUCKING THIRD WAY. It's always FUCKING THIRD WAY!

Axios is trying to ragebait you into hating Dems more than the GOP for crying out loud.

Kind of. But the thing is, you can't just post about politics all the time no matter what's going on. Even people in active war zones don't do that. It's not good for people to live in a constant state of anxiety, and it doesn't solve anything.
