I haven’t listened to pt 2 yet. For sure will because pt 1 was enlightening. But I can’t help but see this as ultimately just another way for rich people to isolate themselves from society and “others”, even though there will be design and tech lessons that can be applied to existing communities.

For 5 weeks, Oakland's new speed cameras have been issuing warnings. Starting March 15th, tickets will be mailed to people exceeding the speed limit by at > 10 mph.
So far the 18 locations have seen 140k instances of speeding.
Most people were sent one warning. 11 people have been sent 30+.
I had someone sincerely use this exact argument for why they hate speed cameras. I wasn’t expecting that level of car brained madness but that’s the world we’re in

This was exactly my question too. It seems reasonable to suspect a town of 400k high wage earners looking to isolate themselves from society at large will eventually seek to takeover Suisun government and force its will on the surrounding area.

I’m opposed to doing things that don’t meaningfully save consumers money (18 cents per gallon is at best a $2 savings) while driving down funds for road repair significantly and in an attempt to gain a political advantage for Dems that they won’t actually get.

it's easy to sit on our perch of non-responsibility and tell democrats they should let the bankruptcies and bodies pile up as high as possible for the hypothetical political reward they get for it, I imagine it's a lot harder when you're getting calls about how many constituents are losing it all
What does saying "I'm anti-war" when the candidate/president is pro-fascist? He promised a revenge tour, has openly idolized and sought out alliances with dictators who routinely engage in violence against their own people. Why did they think this outcome wasn't probable?
