Jack Smith: "My fear is that we have seen the rule of law function in our country for so long that many of us have come to take it for granted. The rule of law is not self-executing. It depends on our collective commitment to apply it."
All these calls for protesters to be non-violent - 10s of millions of us have done exactly that since tRump came to power. We are not the problem!!!!!!
Yes, killing peaceful protesters is a sign of tyranny.

Multiple things can be possible at the same time. We can build a better world and experience joy in this one. Abandoning people to suffering is reactionary. Progressivism and socialism aren't vows of suffering. It's good to believe in something bigger and better than yourself.
A lot of Americans would love to talk about kitchen table issues, unfortunately the kitchen table is being used to barricade the front door because ICE is trying to illegally enter private property to arrest and detain them.
“We’re here peacefully protesting, looking as ridiculous as we can, just so maybe we appeal to the president because he’s a ridiculous leader that is normalizing abuse of power. And we cannot stand and act like nothing is happening.” 🦄
Why do headlines say "norms shattered" when what is meant is "laws broken" or "Constitution violated"?
"Free speech is not about whether someone else agrees or disagrees; it's about whether you are able to do it."
--Jasmine Crockett, just now to Chris Hayes.
It's not fascist to call fascists fascist.
It's not "dehumanizing" to say that terrorizing entire groups of people - which ICE does - is evil.
No executive order can change these facts.
However, people *can* mess things up for fascists by standing up for community and truth. Like this.
Dear World: a quarter of us voted for him. Most of us disapprove of him. Most of us are embarrassed by him. He does not represent us.
I read 1984.
And Fahrenheit 451.
And A Brave New World. And The Handmaid‘s Tale.
And The Giver.
And The Road.
And The Lottery.
And The Parable of the Sower.
And The Hunger Games.
I know what I’m seeing.
One of the most remarkable things of the last 9 months is how many Americans seem to believe the President is all powerful and Congress has no say.
Actually Congress has been ineffective by choice. It has immense power if it had the courage to use it.
Here's the answer to why it's not available in New York. I don't really understand why CVS is giving the vaccine in some states but not others. Waiting on the dysfunctional RFK CDC at this point seems like medical malpractice.

I’m not Newsom‘s biggest fan. But I have to give him major props for taking LEADERSHIP on redistricting.
Real leadership requires taking the lead on and educating voters about a danger they may not know about or understand immediately it means taking chances NEWSOM IS LEADING ON THIS
Hoagie assault guy, if convicted, will be punished more strongly than J6 folks who beat police officers with poles and other objects and are now walking free (and probably joining CBP)

I'll keep saying this: We need a sustained, loud, and focused campaign against this SCOTUS, which is corrupt beyond repair, but loves to think its decisions are legitimate.
The right time for this was in 2001, and at many points between, but "civility" prevented action. The next best time is NOW.
It is not "Alligator Alcatraz"
It is "Alligator Auschwitz"
Robert F Kennedy Jr is not a vaccine skeptic. Reporters and editors who’ve decided it’s somehow more fair to call him one instead of the anti-vaccine activist and lawyer he is should stop mischaracterizing him so… in the pursuit of accuracy.
It's pretty obvious that a lot of US mainstream media either doesn't recognise authoritarianism or doesn't want to call it out. Either way, it's an excellent way to destroy trust in your institution.
Weingarten: Their attacks on public education are relentless and why? Because they fear knowledge. Why do they fear teachers? They fear us because we teach critical thinking… their brand of greed, power, and privilege cannot survive in a democracy of diverse educated citizens
Avoid the violence/nonviolence debate. It’s a trap.
The only thing that matters is what actions lead to more justice and less harm.
Inaction and complicity in the face of brutal oppression is the worst form of violence. Never forget it.
History isn’t supposed to be comfortable. It’s supposed to be honest. We don’t learn from a past we pretend didn’t happen. Rewriting our history doesn’t protect us. It makes us weaker. And more likely to repeat the very mistakes they don’t want us to remember.
Went to drink margaritas with my friends but the restaurant had to close because they got a heads up that ICE was down the street. We have to fight this shit. We’re not free til we’re all free.
To all those who said boycotting Target was a waste of time. It wasn't. Keep it up, y'all!
BREAKING: Judge grants a temporary restraining order to stop the shutdown of the Institute for Museum and Library Sciences thanks to a case brought by AFSCME, @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social & @democracyforward.org
This is a victory for our nation's library and museum workers.
Trump: "Maybe the children will have two dolls instead of 30"
so, arresting judges should be more than enough reason for complete obstruction at in the house and senate. complete obstruction. anything you can do. interrupt proceedings, deny consent, holds on nominations.
everything.
