There has been this YouGov poll about supporting or opposing the abolishing of ICE, which was asked on Saturday (so very soon after and probably not with Pretti's death fully sunken in; it also did not have Presidential Job Approval in their communication).

Außerdem ist die Attacke jetzt umfassender als in Amtszeit 1, es gibt einfach viel, um das sich die Leute kümmern müssen – bei den einen führt das eher zu tatsächlicher aktivistischer Arbeit (die deutlich unsichtbarer ist), bei anderen zum Ausstieg aus dem Diskurs.

Ein wichtiger Grund ist imho, dass der Protest dieses Mal deutlich mehr in der Fläche stattfindet und mehr auf Netzwerke/Community als z. B. auf den Event-Charakter der Pussy Hats setzt. Die Proteste an JFK und zur ersten Amtszeit waren medienfreundlicher an der Ostküste.

Maduro spricht von einem "Kidnapping", ich glaube aber, mir geht das vom Sprachgefühl zu weit, weil es für mich eher individuelle Akteure als einen handelnden Staat andeutet. Ich muss da aber nochmal nachdenken.

Danke für den Eindruck, ich werde da noch einmal genauer nachdenken – eine feste Vorgabe "von oben" gab es aber nicht. Ich war intern für "Festsetzung"; "Gefangennahme" finde ich auch gut, glaube ich.
