I loved Strange Horticulture so much!

I've just started playing Strange Antiquities and between the rain, the color palette, the soundtrack, and the map, it's giving me everything I loved about the first game and so much more!

Today is the 53rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the ruling that established a constitutional right to abortion.

Since it was overturned in 2022, millions of patients have lost access to this essential care because of abortion bans.

recently my friend's comics professor told her that it's acceptable to use gen AI for script-writing but not for art, since a machine can't generate meaningful artistic work. meanwhile, my sister's screenwriting professor said that they can use gen AI for concept art and visualization, but that it won't be able to generate a script that's any good. and at my job, it seems like each department says that AI can be useful in every field except the one that they know best. It's only ever the jobs we're unfamiliar with that we assume can be replaced with automation. The more attuned we are with certain processes, crafts, and occupations, the more we realize that gen AI will never be able to provide a suitable replacement. The case for its existence relies on our ignorance of the work and skill required to do everything we don't.

Not an exaggeration at all to say that the feeling in Minneapolis is that the entire metro area is being treated as occupied territory by federal agents. Impossible to overstate how overwhelmingly people here do not like it. This does not feel sustainable.

We evacuated our kids out of Minneapolis this weekend and my spouse reports that as she drove them out of town she saw "multiple freeway exits where people are being pulled over." It feels like the Twin Cities is being subjugated by a hostile occupying force.

I personally love those game loops!

If you're talking about the merge and color sort games that have optimized the swipe-to-receive-dopamine pipeline to great success, I really think those loops can be worked with in service of actual enrichment rather than addiction and moneygrubbing
