05.08.2025 09:00 β π 74 π 3 π¬ 5 π 1Itβs really exciting to hear from Gleam production users! π₯
βSince go-live, the Gleam code within Strandβs application has been rock-solid. Weβve had zero Gleam-related crashes, and even when there have been issues with other parts of the system, the BEAM has kept everything runningβ
For sponsorship from individuals you get 100% of the money on GitHub as they cover the fees for you. Super nice that.
04.08.2025 13:00 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I don't agree, beyond both having (extremely different) static types there's not really much in common.
The philosophies are about as different as you can get within the space of statically typed languages.
Besides `pub fn` I don't think there's anything in Gleam that's like Rust though really.
03.08.2025 15:29 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Funny accident that one. `fn` and `->` came from Elixir, and `: type` came from mainstream C family languages.
Originally we had an `export` keyword but switched to `pub`, and so by chance it ended up looking like Rust.
Thank you!

03.08.2025 15:26 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0this is so exciting! if you haven't already, you should really try out Gleam. it's a wonderful language, has a great community, and has second-to-none tooling. you'll be amazed!

03.08.2025 15:26 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I am back to sponsoring @lpil.uk at $20 / month for his amazing work on @gleam.run
If you didn't catch it, Gleam was ranked as the #2 most desired programming language from the Stack Overflow survey.
Louis's vision, determination, and cultivation of an impressive core team is incredible.

Yet again I am wishing @github.com let you email individual sponsors! It would be so useful!
30.07.2025 12:14 β π 14 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Possibly surprising: Rust wasn't a reference or inspiration for Gleam! I personally don't think Gleam is like Rust at all. People disagree with me though :P

29.07.2025 19:47 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Programming, scripting, and markup languages Rust is yet again the most admired programming language (72%), followed by Gleam (70%), Elixir (66%) and Zig (64%). Gleam is a new addition to the list, and for good reason - developers like it! Which programming, scripting, and markup languages have you done extensive development work in over the past year, and which do you want to work in over the next year? (If you both worked with the language and want to continue to do so, please check both boxes in that row.)
Oh my gosh! Gleam got #2 most admired programming language in the Stack Overflow survey!
We're on the podium with Rust and Elixir!
Finally, an accolade I can be proud of

15.07.2025 11:44 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I have always admired the reputation of Erlang and Elixir, but Louis' work building @gleam.run has made that ecosystem approachable. I'm doing coding challenges to learn the language better, rather than game. I am constantly π€€ over the idea of refactoring work systems.
Sponsoring is a no brainer.
