The excellent @sambeckdraws.bsky.social and I have collaborated before, but not on anything we’ve shared with the public. I am so, so excited to have Sam join us to flex her considerable fantasy art chops on Swords Without Master!

Carved in Stone is a comprehensive setting guide for early medieval Pictish society, and as such my work on it was wide and varied and included illustrating real artifacts, speculative penannular brooch designs, and even the animals that would have inhabited their world.

🫣 im super excited to draw some cursed swords and i feel so star-struck to be amongst such talented artists!

i need to set a timer and make sure i do these layouts like under idk 5 or 10 min per page or something.

my editor was keen on getting rough thumbnails alongside the first pass of my script. Which in theory is great, fantastic. But i am NOT the kind of person who can do rough layouts. Im so bad at doing things loose. I notably skip pencils and go straight to inks based on my layouts often.
