I’m really fortunate to have a job that so far has kept me on a relatively loose leash. I’m given a lot of creative liberties, and the time to explore rabbit holes to make things I want to make.

My clients and the people I need to pitch to now have just become the company I work within

I fear my repressing things into the back of my mind is coming to bite me.

I have been able to feel safe because I love in NYC. But there’s only so much New York can do to keep me safe.

Coming against those limits are what’s crushing me right now.

If my love and happiness is something worth preserving to you, this stuff should matter to you too ~on a daily basis~ the way it does for me and other trans folks.

We are hit daily with the news that our humanity not kept on the same level as cis people, with systems running which make things worse

It’s made me realize so directly how systematically this country is seeking to make my life more endangered by not being able to access safe travel in or out of the USA.

I’m in severe amounts of danger and risk in either direction.

That makes things like honeymoon travel nigh-impossible to plan.

If I want to get married and change my last name to one shared with my partner (which would make things like hospital visits or proof of family relationship much swifter)…

I’m also required to lose the passport and the gender marker on it that takes so much time, energy, and money to get.

Surprise: my partner proposed to me last month!

Good news? Of course!

But with it I am also running into discriminatory issues regarding my passport.

The USA doesn’t allow passport gender markers to mismatch with your original birth certificate (even if you got it updated).

As a Jewish person, I’m not exaggerating that the far right want nothing more than absolute humiliation, dehumanizing, and death to all trans people.

This all-too-familiar sight is happening right in front of our eyes—and I’m not seeing nearly enough decrying and anger to feel remotely comfortable.

We are At War now, according to President Bush, and I take him at his word. He also says this War might last for "a very long time." Generals and military scholars will tell you that eight or 10 years is actually not such a long time in the span of human history - which is no doubt true - but history also tells us that 10 years of martial law and a wartime economy are going to feel like a Lifetime to people who are in their twenties today. The poor bastards of what will forever be known as Generation Z are doomed to be the first generation of Americans who will grow up with a lower standard of living than their parents enjoyed. That is extremely heavy news, and it will take a while for it to sink in. The 22 babies born in New York City while the World Trade Center burned will never know what they missed. The last half of the 20th century will seem like a wild party for rich kids, compared to what's coming now. The party's over, folks.
