It sounds almost hyperbolic, but when you consider two UK parties now have a stated policy to deport hundreds of thousands of people with settled status, pushed by extremists whereas a year ago both thought and stated a policy was too extreme, shows the direction we are heading.

The next step after zero/negative migration for the far-right, white nationalists, fascists in the US has always been remigration. We heard Trump mention it earlier this year, the far-right in Europe have also been growing louder in supporting a policy which is tantamount to ethnic cleansing.

If sustained, I think we can expect the severe adverse affects on the US economy, agriculture, manufacturing, societal strains - even leaving aside the abhorrent tactics used by ICE - to be brushed aside by prominent political figures in the UK who want zero to negative migration.

She won't even chuck out members and MPs that are literally on the board of Rupert Lowe's startup white nationalist party. It's not even a lack of moral backbone, it's just stupidity and incompetence from her and her office.

Given Jenrick could say absolutely anything and Badenoch, out of fear or out of ineptness over her own position, agrees with him - then this will only get far, far more vitriolic if he becomes LOTO.

We are also in a world where Jenrick believes the louder the condemnation from any sane member of the party, never mind the outpouring of disgust from anyone else, only emboldens his message.

The doubling down today and zero contrition is a tactic to weaponise the outrage for political clout.

In seriousness, it is good some within the party are finally broaching out to either publicly criticise or, in Stride's case, express some dissatisfaction with this language. It's a tiny sign some with backbone find it appalling.

Whether it makes any difference in the long run is another matter.

A phrase - used to slap down the indefensible without actually slapping it down - I associate so strongly with the Johnson-era that it feels almost nostalgic.

I'll bite. What is the benefit we gain from politicians being able to 'thoughtfully' say in private 'blacks, British Bangladeshis, British Pakistanis, British Indians, mulattos....all the same, and clearly from the look of them not-integrated?'

+/ This entire thing stinks of attention seeking to be quite honest and it just makes me sad that conversations about making Britain the best it can be to live are just derailed and tainted by attempts to make an easy headline

He's basically running the party as it is.

This is a lie.

There are many criticisms you might sensibly and truthfully make of the Sentencing Council and the Sentencing Guidelines. I’ve been making them for years.
