Daylight Savings is one of the worst ideas to be widely adopted. I don't know how people were persuaded to change their clocks twice a year and why we can't just stop already.

As a citizen, my observation is that the U.S. has never fully embraced democratic governance. We should have a national holiday for Presidential elections, and other measures to support voter participation.

America has from its founding struggled with hypocrisy and ambivalence towards its supposed ideals. But, in the modern era, no matter how far short we fell, those ideals we never forsaken.

Until now. The lip service to justice is self-parody, and liberty and equality have been officially abandoned.

The world's richest country will let people go hungry before raising taxes on the ultra rich.

Trump wants people to burn American flags, for the same reason he killed bipartisan immigration reform under Biden. He needs to keep the base riled up. He needs to feed the narrative that the "radical left" is anti-American.

Impressive, morally and practically.

If this country was truly “pro-life,” we would have Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, gun reform, universal child care, and a living wage.

The right-wing agenda isn’t about “life.”

Get your cell phones out – record what you see. Put it on social media. Peacefully ask for badge numbers and identification. Speak up for your neighbors.

We need to let the world know this is happening – and that we won’t stand for it.

It's clear we're going to need Constitutional amendments to enforce more constraints on the Executive branch. Norms are dead.

I do not think Trump can be impeached and removed now. Post-J6 was the shot, but I believe he would burn the country down now before being forcibly removed. The best we can do IMHO is to resist and neutralize him as best we can and hope the clock runs out before we're past the point of no return.

That checks out

I don't believe God punishes people and nations the way it's sometimes portrayed in the Bible, but everyone understands "you reap what you sow".

The unwillingness to fully engage with our true history, combined with an irrational individualism and greed, has tragic consequences.

I want to believe "we're better than this", but I worry that maybe we're just not.

And I won't bother reading it. Conservatives hypocritically whining about cancel culture don't get live rent-free in my head.
