Just remember Illinois in this. Republicans are just being louder about doing what Democrats have for decades.

The Benefits of Anti-Models for Boosting Learning Teachers can explore with students what not to doβ€”like confusing operations in math or using boring word choices in writingβ€”to set students on the right path and boost learning.

I've always loved that sandbox that is anti-examples. This article covers the benefits of this in learning | The Benefits of Anti-Models for Boosting Learning www.edutopia.org/article/powe...

K-12 AI = nebulous chasm of nuance. Some are thrilled it's here to help. Some are petrified it's here to hurt. So, what is it? I often use the analogy of a hammer - a tool that can be used to create or to bludgeon. For teachers, it has a lot of potential to help. PD is needed! #demystifyAI #EduSkyAI

The challenge w/ reports like these are correlational relationships vs. causation. They did plenty, but which elements were most impactful? (spoiler - cannot definitively answer this). Nevertheless, I LOVE these reports because it's about a school overcoming their nuanced challenges. It can be done!

What if I told you that in a small, rust belt city, where abandoned buildings line the streets, kids are doing better in reading than in some of the richest school districts in America? www.youtube.com/shorts/KsBNf...

BTC Overlap w/ Visible Learning (2025) Both Visible Learning (by John Hattie) and Building Thinking Classrooms (by Peter Liljedahl) emphasize research-based strategies to improve student learning. Below is a comparison of areas where they ...

There's a lot of debate about the effectiveness and research with #BTC (Building Thinking Classrooms). I prefer the middle route - elements of BTC certainly do line up with well-researched practices, but not all. Given its popularity I expect more explicit research on BTC to come. bit.ly/btcandvl

I get it, but it's still two separate issues. The problem with simply calling it male and female sports today is tomorrow (figuratively speaking) the next administration will declare the opposite. This means process issue. It needs a process solution. Paging Congress - do your JOB!

This is the problem with Title IX and EO's. Each administration takes agency, agency they're allowed bc Congress didn't do their jobs, and swings the guidance/regs wildly the other direction. No matter your position on the/whatever issue, I hope the process problem bothers all equally.

One of my favorite IES resources are the practice guides. There are 5 guides with the research about teaching math. Given the two stop work orders I received last night (to stop work on 2 upcoming IES STEM practice guides), I'd download these now.

@rastokke.bsky.social What research, if any, are you aware of with respect to instruction of fractions as corresponding to cognitive development (and associated age or grade level)? Heard a teacher talk about learning that 3rd grade was too early, but have not been able to find any evidence myself.
