ESIL Roundtable | Corporate Global Governance? President Trump's Board of Peace & International Law What happens when a new “international organisation” is launched not through the UN, but at Davos — with a corporate structure and an explicit ambition to move beyond institutions seen as failing? In this roundtable, leading scholars of international law examine the US President’s Board of Peace, unveiled at the Davos World Economic Forum (January 2026). Initially conceived to oversee the Plan to End the Gaza Conflict and endorsed in principle by UN Security Council Resolution 2803 (2025), the Board now claims a far broader mandate. Its Charter presents a bold alternative to traditional multilateralism — raising urgent legal, political, and institutional questions: -Is the Board of Peace a viable new model of global governance? -What does it mean for an already beleaguered UN system? -How should European states respond? -What can international lawyers learn from this corporate turn in peace governance?
