Stayed up, went to bed at the regular time, got a few hours of good sleep, woke up at 3AM completely unable to go back to sleep.

That's been the general pattern since the weekend started :\

And it was in service to NOTHING, because of course, as soon as I got up, she ran into the kitchen and posted up right where I expected her to.

You ate an hour ago, you absolute fucker. I was the one who fed you. Who are you trying to fool?!

I got home from work yesterday, fed the cat, changed out of my work clothes and got right into bed. I was out like shout in 5 minutes.

30 minutes later, this fuzzy asshole decided that she had a problem and and the only solution was to yell at me for an hour solid. No nap for me!

I don't know if she *started* my Thing for spoiled brats, but Dark Princess was certainly formative!

I could go on for a few dozen posts, geekin' out about this space goblin-lookin' girl and her friends, but I should probably eat dinner SOMETIME tonight.

Suffice to say: lifelong fan, been wanting to draw her for ages and that's what these sketches are for!

Never seemed right to me that Indigo didn't get a punny name. She's... just named after her color. I mean, the red guy's name is a Gone With The Wind reference, and that's... arguably better? But I guess there's really isn't much you can do with "indigo" as a starting point; it is, quintessentially, what it is. I'm just glad she's here!

And oh boy, the colors! Each one had its own gremlinoid avatar! You'd expect it from a series called "Rainbow Brite," but this cartoon is all about bold beautiful color and I ate that shit UP.

Lotta guys my age didn't; they all drive giant white or black pickup trucks now, 'cause color = gay. Sad.

In boys' cartoons, evil was dumb, small and could be bested with ease if you had a laser gun, a few friends and an unwavering faith in truth/justice/AMERICA.

In girls' cartoons, evil is big, powerful, and ready to kill you at any moment. Being colorful doesn't make them less raw!

Sent by Forces Unknown from who-knows-where to a nightmare world; "Clean this mess up, good luck"- and she spends the rest of this episode AND the next in constant mortal peril.

And it's all beautifully animated (for the time), 'cause like most of the best '80s cartoons, it was secretly anime.

But the EPISODE. It's full of freaks and terrors, I'd never seen the like.

I like to throw a wild swing on the list each year! When I was a kid, there were Boy Cartoons and Girl Cartoons, and those streams NEVER crossed, but I was secretly a *massive* fan of Rainbow Brite.

Not sure how I first saw it, but the Beginning of Rainbow Land origin episodes were a revelation.

(I'm surprised; she's not as far behind the Bobbin prompt as I'd thought! Holy cow, y'all HATED the new kid 😂)

In a dark, depressing cavern within the gloomy Pits that border Rainbow Land, Rainbow Brite (Rainbow Brite series) struggles to free herself from the sticky cobwebs of some lurking horror. Her magical Color Belt lies on the floor of the cave, dropped during her struggle. Behind Rainbow, a giant spider with glowing eyes clambers down from its nest in the roof of the cave, evidently ready for lunch.

Though she's certainly capable of handling pests like Murky Dismal on her own, it was probably a Mistake for Rainbow Brite to challenge the dank caves of The Pits all on her own.

Now she's Stuck fast in the web of something much more horrible, and worse, she's lost her Color Belt!

Still keeping those missed prompts (and characters!) in my pocket for warmup projects/quickies next month, though.

Project's already accomplished its goal- I am rarin' to go on doing some color work!

3 more prompts left for Kinktober 2025, but I've gotten like 5 hours of sleep since Sunday and I am out of gas. Gonna take tonight off and spend Wednesday & Thursday night working on the finale.

In all, that'll be 9 prompts I've missed, which ain't bad considering how stupid busy this month's been!

Rosalina (Super Mario series) and her friends Princess Peach and Princess Daisy, have managed to escape from Koopa captivity despite being shackled and having their collars connected by a length of chain. Unfortunately, misfortune has placed them in the middle of a bleak, dismal Dark World swamp, and now they're stuck in a patch of quicksand. Peach is nearly completely submerged, with only her crown (and the crown of her head) visible above the muck. Acting as an anchor, she's pulled Daisy into the mire all the way up to the flower princess' neck. Consequently, Rosalina (the star of this prompt) is sunk up to her waist, and will be pulled further in as her compatriots sink further. Unless one of them can touch the bottom and walk their way out without running out of breath, this escape attempt is pretty much over! (Don't worry too much, though- they'll all respawn at Castle Koopa, alive, kicking, and 30 coins poorer, and will have to try again.)

These three get into more trouble trying to escape from Bowser's dungeon than they would if they just stuck around for a while.

Now they're Sinking fast, and unless Rosalina's chain just magically breaks, her fate is pretty much Sealed.

I modeled it off the poison swamps of the 3D games. This background's a take on the Bubble Breeze Galaxy from Super Mario Galaxy, where it's an extra-nasty purple with brown streaks. Gross stuff!

Already spending too much time on these without making them color, so it all ends up gray!
