The views from atop the scaffold are really spectacular, but we are grateful to our partners at York Glaziers Trust for taking these images to save us a long climb!

The conservation work is being carried out in our Centre of Excellence for Heritage Crafts and Estate Management. We've spoken about how this has introduced improvements to the facilities available to our stonemasons, but the glaziers have also benefitted from new improvements.

This exploratory work is being carried out whilst conservation is underway to the lower South Transept windows. This work is possible thanks to generous funding from the Julia Rausing Trust and the Friends of York Minster.

Both glass and stone are facing increasingly harsh weather with the increased frequency of heavy rainfall, as well as the cycles of heating and cooling brought on by a warmer climate, taking its toll.

"Looking through a window" takes on a whole new meaning when you work for York Glaziers Trust.

A panel of the Rose Window was removed by YGT to allow them to examine how the restoration following the fire of 1984 is holding up to the tests of time.

This image from Jez of York compresses centuries of rooftops into a beautiful golden vista so redolent of historic York.

We love the way in which the lancet windows of the North Transept, the iconic Five Sisters, stand out so beautifully.

A warm welcome back to the Choir of York Minster who sang for their first Sunday service of the term today. A special welcome to new members of the choir, some of whom will be 'read in' this evening during Choral Evensong.

Our apprentices gain access to the incredible experience of our craftspeople and are trained in the use of emerging technologies we are using to conserve this fragile medieval masterpiece in our new Centre of Excellence for Heritage Crafts and Estate Management.

We talk about our stonemasons a lot; we are proud of the exemplary work they do to conserve our wonderful building.

We are also proud to be part of the Cathedrals' Workshop Fellowship, a partnership of 14 Anglican cathedrals that offer apprenticeships to the next generation.
