I love this bookstore. This is in the town where I went to college and it's a marvelous staple. Someone's dream is waiting for them.

Urgh. Is it time for the biennial trying-to-remember-my-Mastodon password, then?

Meanwhile, Spain's massive investment in renewables is paying dividends now: with prices for Spanish industry and consumers low and stable compared with other European economies.

If we could turn back time I would love to see Rob Reiner direct a Young Ones feature film.

Google photos memory (fine, it's Worthing pier if you really need to know) with "Has it really been 20 years?" As a caption. Fuck your computer pretending it can experience time.

Fuck you, Google Photos. Fuck you a billion. Fuck your machine-synthesised simulacra of emotions, designed only to make me engage with your app. Machines can't experience time. I am ACTUALLY 20 years closer to death. Fuck you into outer space.

Emmanuel Damas in a patterned dress shirt and striped tie leaning against a metal railing on a sunny residential street with red brick rowhouses and flowering trees in the background.

Emmanuel Damas, 56, died in ICE custody on Monday.

Damas came to the U.S. from Haiti seeking asylum. After six months in ICE custody—the last four at CoreCivic's Florence Correctional Center—he died from complications from a tooth infection.

A tooth infection.

Inventum coffee maker circa the 1970s it has a delightful shape and appealing color palate of orange, yellow, umber and white and a pattern of flower stalks

it doubtless makes undrinkable swill, but has rizz for days contemporary Inventum drip coffee maker looking like a piece of sterile lab equipment with a little digital clock

makes better coffee, but at what cost?

look how far we've fallen

There are rumours it is considering introducing a 'commercial research exception' for AI training. This would be disastrous. It would mean handing the life's work of British creatives to AI companies for free, to train their models on.

It would mean the lobbying by big US tech firms had succeeded, and the protests of the UK's creatives had been ignored.

People's work is not the government's to give away.

If you're in the UK and you care about creatives and the creative industries, please write to your MP!

In the House of Lords today, a government minister refused to rule this out.

To be clear, this would amount to legalising theft. It would fly in the face of public opinion on what is fair, and would mean a surrender of British creatives' work by this Labour government.

Brits: Please scream. This is a Labour govt proposing to hand the property of individual British workers to largely US corporations.

I promise you that the government that murdered Alex Pretti and Renee Good does not give a flying fuck about the protests in Iran.

If Reform had won, Labour's statement would be that this result is a stark reminder we need to listen and learn from voters who rightly feel betrayed by modern politics.

But the Greens won by a comfortable margin, so it's: these voters are stupid and also sinister and, ugh, Muslims

At one point I wrote a horrible joke about the Landis family being "men who just can't keep control of their choppers". It's unpleasant but solid work.
