Part 2

Trans Awareness Comic (Part 1)

I completely get what you mean, I’m really glad there’s another exjw that saw this <3

Even though I’ve mentally left, it still affects me. Hell I was nervous posting this comic because of the fear that was pushed about talking about JWs in a bad light online since I was a kid. But it’s the truth, and I plan on making more comics speaking out about it and how it affected my journey.

Being raised a Jehovah’s Witness made it a lot harder to realise I was trans and queer, and all the more harder to come to terms with, since anything to do with the lgbt was seen as taboo, something people chose to ”get attention“ and were “mentally ill”.

Panel 1 - When I was 15, my depression had gotten really bad. I couldn’t see a future where I was happy. I struggled to see myself getting older than 18. Panel 2 - I couldn’t see myself happy with some religious man, stuck as a repressed house wife. In a relationship where the husband makes the final decision, and was expected to put God above my dreams.

Panel 3 - The religion I was raised in taught about a paradise, a place where you live forever and never get sick, a place where all your passed loved ones were brought back. A heaven on Earth, that was going to happen any day now after Armageddon. Panel 4 - I used to think, “What’s the point of going on, if I’ll have a better life in Paradise?”

Panel 5 - I kept going though, For my friends and family, and the hope that things would get better. Panel 6 - But it wasn’t until I realised I was queer, “Shit I like girls” That things started to change.

Panel 7 - I could actually see a future for myself, one where I was actually happy, and my depression started to actually heal. Panel 8 - Even more so when I realised I’m trans. I can finally see myself older, living a more full life of happiness and love and connections. And I’m so proud of myself for making it this far.

I was hanging out with some of my friends to get ready for a Halloween party, and ended up going on my Mum’s Instagram to show them my book day costumes from primary school.

The account goes back to my early childhood, so I was curious if there was anything that pointed to early signs that I’m trans. One post stuck out to me, from when I was seven.

Mum’s account- (redacted)‘s new haircut. I tried to talk her out of it but she loves short hair And all I thought after seeing that was;

“He looks so genuinely happy”

I wasn’t expecting to find something, but when I did find this, the change was so obvious. Compared to the other posts from Mum, younger me looked so happy finally having short hair.
I also take me being insistent on having short hair as a small sign I wasn’t cis lol

The final Halloween drawing! I was initially stuck on what to do, but yesterday i finally watched the 90s Addams family and realised Morticia and Gomez were the best Halloween couple costume. So I give you Deadpool and Spider-Man dressed up as the best gothic couple!

Panel 1 - Transphobes love saying: “You can try all you want to be the opposite gender, but that doesn’t stop your biology still being there” Panel 2 - Which can be upsetting to listen to, especially if it’s said by family.

Panel 3 - But everytime someone says that to you, I want you to remember;

Panel 4 - You are so much more than the body you were born into. And your experience being trans makes you an amazing, strong, beautiful human being, especially through every hard day that you don’t feel it.

Based on one of the (many) things my parents have said since coming out, and what I told myself after. But it’s something I think a lot of the trans peeps who have to listen to transphobic bull crap need to remember <3
