These games came out last year (2023), but I either didn’t get around to playing them until this year or was still playing them heading into 2024. Each of them ended up consuming a significant amount of my time and attention this year!
5/ Final Fantasy 16
I’ve only just started the game, but so far, it’s been incredibly enjoyable. While I liked Final Fantasy 15, it definitely had its flaws. This feels like a refined, perfected version of it.
4/ Marvel Rivals
As a former Overwatch fan who, like many others, stopped playing due to Blizzard's mismanagement, this game was a breath of fresh air. It scratched the itch perfectly and feels just like OG Overwatch.
3/ Palworld
The so-called "Pokémon Slavery Simulator," aka Palworld, consumed my life for the first few months of the year. Countless sleepless nights were spent exploring this bizarre yet addictive Pokémon-esque adventure. Honestly, it’s just a really fun game.
2/ Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
When this game was first announced, I honestly didn’t think it was for me. It looked too goofy and overly gimmicky. But once I gave it a shot, it completely won me over! It’s like TOTK meets ALTTP, and I ended up loving every minute of it!
1/ ASTRO BOT
I fell in love with this game before I even owned a PlayStation 5. The charm, creativity, and fun were undeniable even from a distance. When I finally played it, it exceeded all expectations. this is the DEFINITION of peak gaming and absolutely deserved GOTY!
