If a visiting monkey has a place in the streetscape in Clonakilty, Mary Jane Irwin, poet, activist, mother of 13 and wife of Jeremiah O'Donovan Rossa certainly deserves one too.

My wee mum died a month ago. I still can’t believe it. Part of me never will.

Today, I’ve got to return to work (self-employed).

We have laws granting paid leave for birth - rightly so. We should also, I think, offer similar support for people living with loss.

Grief Leave.

A kindness.

Clodagh Finn: Lessons to save us from reinventing the wheel in the fight for equality A book of essays on what happened after the famous contraceptive train from Dublin to Belfast in 1971 shows the need to keep an eye on the history books to see the progress that has been made

'a gloriously affirming collection of essays that sets out not only what was wrong in Irish society 50 years ago but, more importantly, how it was righted'

Just finished reading The Irish in the Resistance by @clodaghfinn.bsky.social and John Morgan; I can't recommend it highly enough.

Brilliantly told and incredibly easy to read. Fascinating stories of a bunch of people who, IMO, had absolutely no need to risk their lives but did so anyway.
