Metaphysics evolved out of the mythical mode of meaning-making. But myths were not altogether consciously produced creations, while metaphysics is a deliberate attempt to systematically explore and explain the fundamental nature of reality through reason and abstract thought.

This may be why certain mythological stories and characters resonate so deeply with people across different cultures and eras— they are based on universal archetypes.

In essence, myths can be seen as narratives that bring archetypes to life, providing a cultural context and a story framework through which these universal symbols and themes can be explored and understood.
