Started editing. Writing a draft for the preface. Felt good!
And then I noticed that I had TWO more stories to write with yet another slacker dropping out.
They're good cards, though, I have literally inherited The World π

Final Tarot anthology story is Temperance. The fact that I consider this a greater challenge than Death is... interesting π

Tarot story done. Did I have any idea when I started that it would end up sci-fi? Nope! (Welcome to Pantserdom and the joys of discovering the story that wants to reveal itself.)
One more anthology story to go, and then it's back to editing and academia for a bit.

Has it really been 3 months since I was here last?
Guess I better get back to posting something then...
Soooo...
Well, I just finished editing a story for an anthology, now getting started on the next one, based on the Tarot. My card: Death. Very fitting, thank you, Ye Olde Tarot Gods! π¦
Hi, matey! Welcome to the open skies lol

Yes, all good my end, thank you. That was an odd feeling, sitting in my office on the 3rd floor & suddenly the floor has a mind of its own! But once at ground level, all felt normal. But that skyscraper collapse - brrrrr.... that was a scary sight, even if I only saw it on the news.
That's the one thing I'm missing here, a proper garden! But then again, weeds not driving me round the bend does have its advantages, too π
Your summer vacation sounds lovely! All fingers crossed for a lovely summer with plenty of sunshine and the right amount of rain at night for the garden π€
We spent 3 months working on this. All in Alba's name.
We can feed 1250 street dogs a day now with the freshest and healthiest food.
What a legacy for Alba
Oh hey there - yeah I'm still alive and getting there with my IKEA. Just posted an update.
And you? All good your end?
Update on IKEA, a dozen YouTube videos (and a LOT of VERY foul language) later.
Oh, and in the unlikely event that anyone also a 1st-timer assembling their e-thing: the fender goes on before the front wheel.

Next time I buy myself an e-scooter, I'll make sure it's pre-installed and not an IKEA DIY job. I'm a fucking teacher and not a mechanic π
Will keep you posted.
Where is Jamie Lannister when you need him.... *sigh*
Soooo... as I was plodding and plotting along, my little gothic story for the Arcana anthology suddenly threw plot sparks right left and centre, and wanted to be about one of the judges of the Salem Witch Trials. I honestly did NOT have that on my Bingo card when I started π

In tomorrow's and next week's seminar: Schiller's "Maria Stuart". At the centre are 2 Queens - one a cerebral manipulator, the other cannot control her emotions to save her life. Literally.
I'm quite excited to see what my current batch of students will make of them.

One thing that I'm increasingly coming to believe is that stories are going to be central to what comes next. Stories of the harm done. Stories of the great things achieved by government in the past. Stories of valor kindness and quotidian simple resistance.
Done.
Don't you just love it when characters reveal themselves as you're plodding along without a plan or clue, trusting the process π

Have another short story to lend for the Tarot anthology. The other Arcana I was dealt is VIII: Strength.
I'm going to make an effort to write something other than gothic horror.
Doesn't mean I'll succeed π€·ββοΈπ

His Lordship and I wish everyone a Happy Lunar New Year (pic via Meta AI). Thanks for all the follows, I promise I'll catch up with everyone soon & follow back if we "vibe" ππ

Yup, and the little house leads you to your timeline π
Writing a nice little story inspired by Great Arcana no. XX The Judgement (yes, Tarot) for an anthology. I honestly hadn't planned it, but somehow my protagonists ended up being the Keeper of the Angry Dead and a pissed off murdered Judge. #IJustCantHelpMyself ππ #AmWriting
"Why do you write fantasy?"
Because the magic parts aren't the actual magic. They're just a way to connect to something deeper inside all of us.
There's not much Mr Asimov says that I don't agree with . . . π π π
