So cool! I've been slowwwly chipping away at trying to replace all of my lawn with native plants. Just doing a new little section each year.

My yard used to flood A LOT every spring. It barely happens now. I'll have been in my house for six years this summer and the difference in how our lawns respond to rain and melting snow becomes more and more pronounced each year.

We've already had some spring rain (and lots of melting snow) this year that have left my neighbor's yard extremely flooded while my yard does a pretty good job of just drinking the water right up. That wasn't the case when I first moved into this house.

Yup. I've been complaining for several years now about how a terrifying number of people in the Buffalo NY area think stopping at red lights and stop signs is optional. I see it happen almost every time I leave the house.

Also!? Most of my neighbors yards get wayyyy more direct sun than my yard does, so I'm pretty sure my faster snow melt has to be due to my *hot soil*

I *suspect* this is because I don't rake leaves or spray poison on the lawn. My yard is just straight up warmer/has more energy than theirs because my dirt is ALIVE and actively composting dead leaves and last summer's plants

We got a little bit of snow here. I just realized it's already almost totally melted in my yard while all my neighbors still have about an inch of snow on their lawns.
