I'm hoping in 2026 to make more finished pieces and show them publicly. It was really good for me to be more private art-wise in 2025 whilst I reflected & explored more what I want to make and how.
I've def not *done* exploring of course, but I've gained more mental/emotional stability with my art.
wizard cat has a very important message
As the year draws to a close, we wanted to wish you a happy and restful holiday season, and thank you for supporting Hades II and our team!🙏🌖
This festive moment in the Crossroads brought to you by our environment artist Joanne Tran.
heads up that bluesky doesnt show posts from other languages by default on your timeline, and its cutting you off from a lot of the community
go to bsky.app/settings/lan... and deselect any language from this setting, or else you might not see any of the new japanese users at all!
My other art conundrum currently is really enjoying making digital art but having to stare at a screen all day for my day job... staring at a screen in my spare time too is hard to stomach. 😣
It might be time for me to ignore the 'you must learn to draw realism / figure studies first before you can stylise characters well'. Like maybe so but I'm bored af & simply don't draw/create regardless because of it. Maybe I can allow myself to draw janky stylised characters so at least I have fun
I want to make more art that has a narrative, but BOY do I hate drawing people / humanoids. I've tried to learn to love it but I just can't.
Maybe there's a way to make it fun but I've not figured it out yet.

you're gonna wanna see this
✌️🌞 finished a comic, out soon, quite happy about how it turned out, i suck so bad with limited colors, it was a good training arc !
Here's the cover and some details
So true, I'm loving people's comments here too.
What's helped me is learning about historical artists' processes, how it was perfectly normal to spend months or years on a single oil painting, usually with many sketches and iterations.
Capitalism & social media has really distorted the process.
Artists feel pressured to make new art too quickly at the moment. Normalise artists fucking disappearing for months. Just walk off into the woods for a year and come back with a single sketch. It’s good for you

Help
Had to bring this banger over from Mastodon.
Update: I did reach some kind of breakthrough! I have a lot more ideas & I'm trying new things.
Not all of those things *work*, but the exploration feels great.
I've finally rediscovered my love for digital art, and I'm dipping my toes into pixel art after fearing trying for so long too ^^
First art fight attack for the year! Feeling energised 🥳

Ribbicca the frog mage 🐸✨
Updated her design ready for Art Fight 2025. Can’t wait for this year’s event!
After posting this I remembered that I wanted to try more textured brushes, quickly went over this with a new layer and now I'm like... fuck that's WAY nicer/what I'm going for.
Guess in my next piece I'll use textured brushes 😁
Frog study 🐸✨
Also digital art practice cos it's been sooo long (as per usual)
Having some of the worse art block I've had in a looong time. Everything I make looks like ass.
I'm hoping it's me about to reach some kind of breakthrough cos this is brutal 😭
Long Night

I get the impression that bluesky art posts tend to be mostly digital art and Instagram art posts tend to be mostly traditional art.
I hope bluesky starts showing a combo of both cos I still feel like I can't stop using IG completely because of it.
GenAI has polluted image search results, especially for animal pics. It’s now basically impossible to find accurate art references.
Enter this: a repository of open-access, AI-free images of wild & exotic taxa. Artists creating *without AI* have blanket permission for derivative/transformative use.
