Harsher sentencing doesn't reduce crime anyway. That's a myth politicians tell themselves. "If I'm harsh on crime, it makes me look tough and righteous".
Crimes are committed because criminals assume they won't get caught, are entitled to what they take, or would rather jail than starve.
As a child protection professional, I can tell you the death penalty is NOT an awesome solution to child sexual abuse. Most children are abused by family members; they will not report if their family members will die as a result.
