I honestly don't understand the decision not to risk Pickering, but we know Val likes height in the defence and no doubt this set pieces coach will agree with him. Can only see Picks and Ribeiro moving on, with at least one new face coming in January in defence.

I guess we'll see what he can do over the next few games and whether he can cement his place. I'm assuming he'll play the next match after that performance and no doubt he'll get the chance to decide his own future

A bit harsh that Phil. I thought he did really, really well. Even had Small to deal with in the 2nd half after he switched sides.

This exactly Brian. Not much the club can do no matter what they did. Looks like the replacement for the next match will be Miller, given we've signed a young lad that can cover both wing-back positions. Picks has also played left-centre-defence at times and has done a decent job.
