Is it flawless? No, but nothing is. I just think this is a lot more foolproof for its intended purpose than AI face scan systems that can be duped by realistic drawings & video game characters, or ID checks that can be photoshopped, all while collecting sliiightly less sensitive data.

-- if adults are allowing kids to use their cards for age verification, they can be identified for legitimate purpose & held accountable

-- additionally, while adults can sign up for a LOT of credit cards, platforms can make it so only one account can be verified per card number

For these reasons:

-- you need to be 18+ to sign up for most credit cards; card batches associated with prepaid cards, mc/visa debit, etc can be blocked

-- if a kid steals an adult's card, they can issue a chargeback and have that charge reversal automatically instigate an account age reversal

Buddy, if these tech corps actually cared about verifying age (and not collecting personal data), credit card verification in situations where a user's age cannot be assumed is SUBSTANTIALLY more effective than face scans and ID submissions.

Expanding on this: Nintendo had WILD success with AC:NH, and it feels like they're trying to New Horizonsify their games without realizing that AC:NH was so exceptional due to being released at the beginning of covid lockdowns in North America & not because it was an island game w/ crafting elements

idk about my fellow Pokemon enjoyers, but pokopia is a hard pass for me........ I refuse to pay C$100 for a game just to play what effectively amounts to a Pokemon-themed Minecraft server with an AC:NH texture pack

Additionally, furry has a a large scene of suiting events and raves beyond cons -- it's about time we started organizing the arts like this, too! We need our artists to thrive if we want to continue having a furry fandom.

This'd give countless aspiring art vendors the experience & exposure they need, w/o relying on "knowing somebody" at a con. This hypothetical arrangement could prioritize artists who don't regularly vend at cons, since cons are an industry stuck in the "you need experience you gain experience" loop.

With how competitive furry con dealers dens and artist alleys are, imagine if furry artists organized our own local art markets outside of conventions. Like an art crawl or arts market for furry works!
