I love it almost exclusively bc of its narrative on trauma but the ending was hot ass and she teased MMF with cass and az and didn’t deliver. Rude!

So insightful. I really appreciate how she approached life after losing weight (if I’m remembering correctly). Learning that your whole life you’ve been treated differently does exactly make the compliments hit like you thought it would.

The uncomfortable truth is that girls have no chance, it is indoctrination from infancy padded with patriarchal standards at large and without the right guidance it consumes endlessly.

Sometimes fat girls hate themselves in earnest because it’s easier to align with the oppressor.

It takes that narrative and with it establishes a faceted and frank truth: how early it starts, how it’s driven by desire to be desired and how men play a role in this. How our parents can light the match and our similarly fatphobic friends fan the flames. Etc etc etc

Woof where to start. Frankly what stands out is the criticism for the book, for leaning into so called fat sad girl stereotypes but they miss that the book isn’t expressly body positive at all, the narrative is intentionally fatphobic because our mc is and this is how she sees herself and others.
