while it only looks like transit usage outperforms car usage in old toronto, looking at it broadly really shows what's wrong with our allotment of funding and infrastructure

>65% of trips in old toronto don't even use a car. yet, nearly all (>95%) of our roadspace is dedicated to serving cars

The Transportation Tomorrow Survey from 2022 that Minister Sarkaria and Doug Ford were hiding has been released. It shows cycling commute mode share is up 300% in Old Toronto since 2001. Now sitting at 11.3% in Old Toronto wards (4, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14), 10x bigger than "1.2%"!

A screenshot from the Trump website showing a Latter-day Saint for Trump beer cooler Another screenshot from the Trump website showing Latter-day Saints for Trump white mug

it's far enough out from the election now that I can say the official Trump campaign selling "Latter-day Saints (Mormons) for Trump" beer coolers and coffee cups may be the funniest thing ever

Consultation on "Kensington Market Safe Streets" started in 2021. After 3 years of consultation, pretty much none of the initial design improvements are slated to be kept. Construction won't start until 2027, with more consultation starting in 2026 on "pedestrian zone pilots".

First article is up!

"We put out information to councillors, many of them put that into their newsletters. We had a social media notification. And we had a survey on our website that was open for seven months. We got 1,100 responses there."

Concerning to see the Liberal-Conservative coalition emerge on closing safe consumption sites. This will lead to preventable illness and death. The PCs didnโ€™t need Liberal votes for it to pass, this is just what they believe

The Government of Canada has announced $758M to support the purchase of 55 new subway trains for Torontoโ€™s TTC Line 2. This comes after Ontario also pledged funding support. 70 new trains will be purchased in total. www.canada.ca/en/departmen...

Oh definitely, but for a city of 70k, it has a surprisingly good bus and bike network. I lived there for over 10 years and was able to get most places by bike, and using the bus for longer trips worked pretty well most of the time! The commuter service helps a lot too

Right?? A lot of trips are possible by bike because of this! Use the local bus network to supplement and living car-lite seems considerably less impossible!
