To Resist Rising Autocracy, Look to Iran For more than four decades, Iranians have resisted through underground clubs, labor strikes, and other everyday acts of defiance.

The good news is that, unlike Iranians, Americans have a longstanding tradition of free speech, making it much harder to silence dissent. The sheer size of US also presents logistical challenges for any regime seeking to control its people. More:

Perhaps the most radical act of resistance in the face of adversity is to live joyfully.

It's trans day of visibility. The people most impacted by transphobia are racialized trans and nonbinary people.

If you're a racialized trans person, and you need mutual aid, drop your payment links below and I'll repost. And if you're cis and/or white and have extra, please donate. 💙

Happy International Women’s Day to girls & women of all colors, sizes & shapes 💜

May we all find ourselves at a place where we have a good laugh at arbitrary beauty standards oozing w/predatory capitalism, racism, & patriarchy. Not buying what they’re selling bc we’re already incredible.

When I shared this story, a friend told me their teacher called the Civil War “the war of northern aggression.” We had started making some progress over the past decade or so. What kind of crap will end up in history books now that ICE is raiding Native American communities???💔💔💔

This is before CRT/DEI etc... I remember this question so clearly bc the correct answer was just as appalling. I was a hs junior & my teacher was Ms. Maldonado. I don’t remember which multiple-choice answer I picked, but I do remember the “correct” answer: “Because Indians were too lazy.” 😶😶😶⬇️

Why didn’t Indians make good slaves?"

That was an actual question I got wrong in my first American high school history class. I had just arrived in the U.S. and was still learning English—but even then, I found the question quite bizarre⬇️

America's HELL Corporations It is long past time we grapple with the violence imposed on Americans from our exploitative for-profit health exploitation system

My house caught fire. I called the Fire Dept but they refused b/c I don't have fire insurance

Sounds absurd right?

Meanwhile since Mangione allegedly killed the UnitedHealth CEO, ~6000 people have died due to denied care from insurance corps. Why do we allow it? www.qasimrashid.com/p/americas-h...

AI answer: One problem that isn’t caused or exacerbated by the predatory business model baked into the American societal blueprint? Tough to name—because from healthcare to housing, education to the environment, the profit motive finds a way to worsen it all.

We, as a society, should’ve never allowed war and healthcare to become business opportunities. If both were nonprofit we would have no bombing kids or school shootings, no Breaking Bad-type stories, no offing insurance CEOs in real life...

Who jails rappers, dancers, writers, and legit Nobel Laureates? Apparently several places in the world including Iran. Dictatorships/sham democracies are the norm now.
