The Canadian-right wing has shown time after time what and who they stand for. You cannot support the right-wing and claim allyship to all, because you knew when you voted who the right-wing would support and who they would attack. You knew because you’ve seen it before and you’re seeing it again.

The UCP act like this is a simple clarification of what they always wanted to ban but if that were true they’d have written it this way the first time. Through vicious compliance demonstrating the extent of books that could be banned, Edmonton saved books that would have faced selective enforcement.

The Edmonton school board just managed to show they couldn’t ban the books they wanted without also banning books that ought to be left alone. It shows that the UCP planned to selectively enforce their policy to remove books dealing with themes that are counter to their morals and values.

The vicious compliance of the Edmonton school board banned book list saved books. The UCP understands the importance of specific language in their ministerial orders. They knew what books they wanted banned and wrote their order broad enough to capture them.
