We are preparing for a similar project in the desert. Pendraken 10mm, WW2, and both armies based the same, although different from these.

While site seeing you may come across the two GW shops. There is a good train hobby store, Muco, for terrain and a few plastic tank kits. There is a store in the centre, gamekeeper, that has a few wargames. The American bookstore in town also has a few games and such. No great wargamestore, sadly
I'll be at the club later, and ask for the best shops, but it is not a great city for wargame shopping. It is for loads of other things though!
Don't live in Amsterdam, so unsure about the shops, but take a look at the amsterdam6shooters site for games. We play on Thursday nights and in the weekend, mostly on sundays
