My short essay on the racialization of Mamdani - simultaneously coded too black & too white - not only demonstrates the way in which Islamophobia takes the contours of 20th C antisemitism, but also serves as a place-holder for the way socialism upends a neoliberal racial commonsense

Two girls shot in Gaza - BBC pieces together what happened and looks at dozens more child shootings Layan and Mira were killed in proximity to IDF soldiers - the Israeli military says intentional harm to civilians is prohibited and their cases will be examined by the authorities.

I have curated material from conflict zones for more than 15 years and have seen many children killed.

I have not seen children intentionally shot in the head or chest anywhere other than those killed by Israel in Gaza.

This Labour government has failed. People want real transformative politics – we will give it to them | Jeremy Corbyn More than 500,000 people have signed up to our new party to help build a genuine alternative to poverty, inequality and war, says former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn

For too long, people have been denied a real political choice.

Not anymore.

I was talking with a teenager recently who is not a transphobe but said he didn’t think it was fair for trans women to play women’s sports . I said that I didn’t think it was fair that people who are taller than me get to play basketball and he paused for a moment and then said, ok you’re right.

Chartbook 400: Murder not crisis - Why Israel's starvation of Gaza is exceptional in a global context. For many months, it has been beyond reasonable doubt that the Israeli government, the Israeli military, sections of Israeli politics and society as well as their aiders and abetters abroad, have been ...

A condition of total starvation is highly unusual. No doubt, the reality on the ground continues to exhibit gradations of inequality. But this finding points to the exceptional circumstance of Gaza, which are those of a siege, a prison or a ghetto. adamtooze.substack.com/p/chartbook-...

Abundance for the many is about making essentials affordable by all means necessary.

Great conversation about the need for a new economic policy agenda that goes beyond removing blockages and waiting for corporations to do the rest.

Zohran Mamdani’s Lesson for the Left The New York City mayoral primary showcased a better kind of politics than progressives are used to.

This is framed as "lessons for the left," but Lander and Mamdani actually offer lessons for the center: Instead of ruthlessly undermining leftist candidates, emphasize shared values and refuse to amplify right-wing attacks.

The American Police State Is Here ICE is about to eclipse the FBI as America's most important law enforcement agency. That's bad. Super-duper bad.

β€œICE will have twice as many agents as the FBI and will have its own huge and growing prison system (which it operates independently) as its masked and un-uniformed officers continue to snatch people off of the streets and mete out violence as they see fit.”

This is unfortunately reminiscent of early camps in Nazi Germany, which were also widely lauded by politicians (they were by no means a secret), treated as tourist curiosities, and featured in glossy magazine spreads. It’s unfathomable to me how so many people can take such joy in human suffering.

The BCG team also built a financial model for the postwar reconstruction of Gaza, which included cost estimates for relocating hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from the strip and the economic impact of such a mass displacement. One scenario estimated more than 500,000 Gazans would leave the enclave with β€œrelocation packages” worth $9,000 per person, or around $5bn in total.

A US firm (Boston Consulting Group) was paid $4M+ to model ethnically-cleansing 500,000 people from Gaza.

This is the same firm that helped establish the 'aid' operation currently murdering Palestinians every single day.

(They have now disavowed that depraved project.)

On Monday of this week, Hamas' Health Ministry in the Gaza Strip published an updated list of those killed in the war, a 1,227-page chart, arranged from youngest to oldest. The Arabic-language document includes the deceased person's full name, the names of the father and grandfather, date of birth and ID number.
Unlike previous lists, this compilation notes the precise age of children who were under the age of one year when they were killed. Mahmoud al-Maranakh and seven more children died on the same day they were born. Four more children were killed on the day after they entered the world, five others lived to the age of two days. Not until page 11, following 486 names, does the name appear of the first child who was more than six months old when he was killed.

The death toll of Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza is now estimated at 100,000

The list is 1,227 pages long.

The first 11 pages are names of babies dead before the age of 6 months.

The first 381 pages are all children.
