❌Eliminating the Family Planning Program

❌Restricting youth access to confidential health care like birth control

The NH Senate is voting on a bill that would effectively ban confidential birth control for teens — as soon as THIS THURSDAY.

It’s #FreeThePill Day! One year ago, the first OTC birth control pill—Opill—became available across the US, thanks to @freethepill.bsky.social & many others! This was a critical step toward ensuring that everyone has affordable access to the contraceptive method that works best for them. 👏

Should N.H. require minors to have parental consent to get contraception? - The Boston Globe Reproductive rights advocates say a proposal to do so would be “short-sighted and ineffective,” but Governor Ayotte says, “I do think it’s really important to have parents engaged in these decisions.”

Banning confidential birth control should be a dealbreaker. All leading medical experts agree: teens should have access to this care confidentially, which is why NH has the lowest unintended pregnancy rates in the country. #NHPolitics

Momnibus 2.0 also includes a provision to study indie birth center opportunities & barriers.

These centers help in building an ecosystem of maternal health care for ALL pregnant people.

In February, my mom passed away from breast cancer. I was recently able to be screened for early detection. The thought of all Granite Staters not having the same ability to do so because of the elimination of NH’s Family Planning Program by the NH House majority keeps me up at night.

🚨 By a party line 5-4 vote, the NH Finance Division 3 committee voted to eliminate the NH Family Planning Program - a 53-year-old program that provides essential health care services to lower-income Granite Staters.

Their expertise and unwavering support for Granite State moms gave me the permission to step away and grieve mine, and for that I am immensely thankful 🩵

As I’ve been away on bereavement, my coworkers at Repro Equity Now + my colleagues at MomsRising, NH Women's Foundation, + New Futures have been instrumental in this bill unanimously passing the NH Senate.

My mom struggled with both mental health and substance use disorder, and the policy changes in this bill would have made a world of difference for her, for me, and for my family.

I’m so grateful to be advocating for #NHMomnibus2 a bipartisan bill that will address gaps for our moms around maternal mental health and substance use disorder, two leading causes of maternal death.
