Absolutely insane.

Labour would have purged and smeared someone like Zohran Mamdani.

Wes Streeting's politics align far more closely with Andrew Cuomo.

The lessons from Mamdani are about how to defeat both the right - and the bankrupt "centre".

A great day for the golden rule of political analysis: when the right wins it is a resounding ideological victory that humiliates the left and when the left wins it is a precarious fluke that will surely end up humiliating the left. Conservatives are power's landlords and the left merely tenants

Because the left are viewed by the press and by our abysmal political class as hated enemies and as automatically and fundamentally illegitimate, in a way that even the nastiest and craziest right wingers are not. Because Thatcherism itself is their only non-negotiable red line.

It is kind of fun how you can now say β€œSure, but that was an idiotic and wildly dishonest hate campaign Morgan McSweeney concocted out of Facebook posts by random members of the public, at the behest of Peter Mandelson” and nobody will object to that any more, because they all know it’s true.

A crochet spitfire in front of a building. No, really.

A different view of the crochet spitfire - no, I really do mean it, it's a full sized spitfire made from wool. This angle shows it apparently on tow by a rope of poppies, because of course it is.

I note that the Times quietly deleting their crank reporting is not a lapse in standards: it is *a significant improvement* on the last few years, when the paper would report wildly inflammatory drivel then roar abuse at people who asked them to stop doing it, until people stopped talking about it.

One of the worst aspects of the @thetimes.com fake news story is that the paper's first response was to cover up their shoddy journalism by smearing their source, claiming he had had misled them when their reporter had simply emailed the wrong Bill deBlasio. H/t

Also, why is a supposed "paper of record" deleting its fake news stories rather than correcting the record? It would be far better if they were left online with a full explanation, not least so that future historians studying the collapse of western liberalism can trace the degradation of the media

This guy was editorial lead at the Times between around 2018-22 or so, and wouldn’t it be helpful to have people explaining what exactly was going on there.

there is no debate to be had about integration in the UK. The debate should be about what we do about the way we indulge delusional people by pretending their arguments are not bad faith.

I notice that 15 years of screaming all-channels terror about librulz helping Asian sex offenders do crimes - for no well-explained reason - has precisely overlapped with it becoming grimly clear that the upper echelons of society are infested with rapists, child molesters and arse-grabbers.

Was it Russian bots that made Nigel Farage a household name? Was it Russian bots that spent the last fifteen years furiously telling the public e.g. liberals who refuse to be racist are helping minority group criminals to commit horrendous sex crimes. And so on, and on, and on.

The Israeli military killed 46 Palestinian children overnight.

That's 10 more than the total number of Israeli children killed on 7th October.

Yet there was more outrage over the fictional beheadings of Israeli babies than these 46 kids.

That's easy: because there's no outrage
