Starting now!
Follow along as we react live to Governor Sherrill's first budget address.
We know what we're looking for: A budget that sufficiently addresses fiscal challenges while aligning with the values of expanding opportunity for all.

Unfortunately, while @mikiesherrill.bsky.social is highlighting stories of opportunity, her speech completely leaves out immigrants.
PJM is seriously holding back our ability to build new, affordable energy to drive down costs for everyone.
Check out NJPP’s report on PJM to learn more! www.njpp.org/publications...
Yes yes yes to affordable housing @mikiesherrill.bsky.social . We need to ensure the affordable housing trust fund is funded and used as intended.
Honored to be in person at Governor @mikiesherrill.bsky.social first budget address. And looking forwarding to digging into the budget details with @njpolicy.bsky.social!
New Jersey has the power to protect immigrant communities.
"We fight for policies that protect immigrant communities and fix our broken criminal justice system because everyone deserves safety, dignity, and the chance to build a life here," said @nicolenjpp.bsky.social.

To @govmurphy.bsky.social:
As a Jerseyite (Bloomfield) and an American, I was deeply disappointed by your answers on #AskTheGov suggesting you may not sign the Immigrant Protection Package. You said signing these bills would just be a “feel good moment” that wouldn’t change much and hinted
🧵
Even with the beautiful wins, we can and need to do better about making NJ better for all communities, especially those left out of opportunities, and under attack from a regime hell bent on hurting humans. We need immigrant trust act bills signed ASAP at the very least. #immigrantsmakenj
Truly one of the shining achievements of the Murphy Administration is his commitment to reproductive freedom. New Jersey is a safe haven for anyone who needs access to reproductive health and it must stay that way. #NJSOTS
States have real power to improve people’s lives in meaningful ways. Grateful to live in New Jersey and to see what’s possible when that power is used to advance opportunity and equity.
States have real power to improve people’s lives in meaningful ways. Grateful to live in New Jersey and to see what’s possible when that power is used to advance opportunity and equity. It takes a village to do this work.
Affordability crisis is real. And under @govmurphy.bsky.social, NJ is stronger. Under this admin, we raised the min wage, expanded paid fam leave, reduced incarceration, expanded EITC, created child tax credit, & enacted progressive taxes like millionaires, mansion, & corporate transit fee, & more!
It’s #NJSOTS time and @ptrchn1.bsky.social and I are going to be live bloosky-ing! What I’m looking for from Gov Murphy’s last address:
🚆 Celebrate Corporate Transit Fee
⚡ Calling on Gov-elect Sherrill to continue affordable energy policies
🚗 Pushing Target Zero policy implementation
Murphy references his own parents, as he has done before -- a bartender and part-time secretary trying to make ends meet.
And for working-class New Jerseyans he has largely followed through: raising the minimum wage, expanding paid family and sick leave, and creating the Child Tax Credit
Grateful to attend the final State of the State for @govmurphy.bsky.social. Many hard-fought wins under this administration and Legislature. @njpolicy.bsky.social looks forward to partnering with the @mikiesherrill.bsky.social administration to advance equity for every New Jerseyan!
"New Jersey thrives when all residents have dignity, opportunity, and economic security," said @nicolenjpp.bsky.social.
"These proposals show that with political will, we can end child poverty in one of America’s wealthiest states."

🚨 New from @ptrchn1.bsky.social 🚨
Despite being one of the wealthiest states, 1 in 8 New Jersey children live in poverty. However, New Jersey has the resources to dramatically cut child poverty through direct cash assistance to families.

Three New Jersey congressmen just voted to deepen inequality and hurt their own constituents — with no evidence this bill will help anyone, except to make the wealthy even wealthier.
This bill is cruel. This vote is cowardly. And it shows exactly who they’re really fighting for.
The House's cruel budget eliminates vital programs for people around the country and blows an even bigger hole in the state’s budget that lawmakers failed to adequately prepare for.
“This is not just about money — it’s about consequences," said @nicolenjpp.bsky.social. www.njpp.org/media/statem...
Big congrats to NJPP's ENTIRE research team and President @nicolenjpp.bsky.social on being named to the Insider 100 Policymakers Power List!

🚨 NEW REPORT 🚨
PJM’s delays in approving new energy projects and increasing demands from AI data centers are driving up costs for consumers — culminating in an over $20 jump on New Jersey electric bills in just a few days.

The cruel and costly House budget bill prioritizes a massive trillion-dollar tax break for the wealthiest one percent over health care and food assistance.
“Let me be clear, this is not fiscal responsibility — this is fiscal sabotage," said @nicolenjpp.bsky.social.

NJPP is profoundly alarmed over Mayor Ras Baraka’s arrest. This incident underscores longstanding concerns about the privatization of immigration enforcement and the dangerous lack of accountability that comes with it.

"Tax Justice means investing in public schools, affordable housing, and reliable infrastructure - not handing out tax breaks to the ultra-rich." Newark Mayor: @rasjbaraka.bsky.social
“Despite New Jersey’s dependency on immigrants for economic, cultural, and social prosperity, our state is swiftly becoming ground zero for immigration enforcement." @njaij.bsky.social 's Madison Linton
"We are here to tell the state legislators that they must protect New Jersey from the enormous cuts to Medicaid and Medicare. We must protect New Jersey’s public healthcare, including University Hospital here in Newark."
@hpae.bsky.social President Debbie White.
"Now more than ever, the Affordable Housing Trust Fund is needed for home construction and rehabilitation — instead of cutting it, state lawmakers should increase it with dedicated funding from fees on million-dollar homes."
Fair Share NJ Managing Director, Al-Tariq Witcher
"This is not the time for austerity. It’s a time for courage. We need to make the wealthy pay their fair share. With fairer revenue, we can fund what families actually need — schools, clean air, transit, and affordable homes.”
@nicolenjpp.bsky.social @njpolicy.bsky.social
When we talk about affordability, it's important to ask: affordable for who?
At a time when so many are struggling to make ends meet, we should not be spending our limited resources on programs like StayNJ that disproportionately benefit the wealthy.
