Crunchyroll Presents Anime Nights: A Monthly Theatrical Event Crunchyroll has been no stranger to the big screen these days, with special one-night releases arranged through Fathom Events on a regular basis. Occasionally something comes along that’s so big it gets its own independent release, like the latest Demon Slayer movie, but for the most part these things have been piped through the same company that re-releases classic films on their anniversaries or shows concerts. Anime Nights will be something different. It’s a direct partnership between Crunchyroll and the nation’s largest theater companies to showcase the latest and greatest of anime. Wolfenstein, set in an alternate present where the Nazis won World War II, has its roots all the way back to the dawn of computers. You could shoot Nazis on the Apple II or the Commodore 64. But it wasn’t until the early 90s and the revolutionary Wolfenstein 3D — one of the first mass-market first-person perspective games — that the series took off and became one of the founders of the FPS genre. It’s had new sequels ever since, and soon a TV show, because in the words of the producers, “killing Nazis is evergreen.” Kilter Films, the production company behind Fallout, is now working on Wolfenstein with executive producers Jonathan Nolan, Lisa Joy, and Athena Wickham behind the new show. Lucasfilm Releases First Images From Maul And Ahsoka Season Two Last April Disney and Lucasfilm announced Maul: Shadow Lord, a Disney+ series set starring the former Sith Lord (who drops the “Darth” after departing with the Empire). Now he’s a SHADOW Lord….totally different. And above is the first publicly released image of him. This show is CG animation, by the way. Sam Witwer reprises the role, but doesn’t appear onscreen. Maul: Shadow Lord is set after The Clone Wars and is about the title character “plotting to rebuild his criminal syndicate on a planet untouched by the Empire.” We’ve seen several chapters of Maul’s life already: he appeared on The Clone Wars in an arc where he tried to turn Ahsoka to the Dark Side, at the end of Solo, as a teaser for a nonexistent sequel, and on Star Wars Rebels, where he was an old man who attempted to manipulate Ezra Bridger. But that’s not all! A big con requires announcements bigger than one show! Lucasfilm also released the first image from the second season of Ahsoka, the live-action continuation of Rebels starring the fan favorite double-saber wielder. It’s Ezra from the previous paragraph, who anyone watching the show knows was the drive beyond the entire first season.
