A King George V box.
The North Eastern Railway station opened in 1882 is famous for the station canopies architecture.
It became part of the Tyne & Wear Metro in 1980. The 1970s trains are now only just being withdrawn after 46 years service.

Treading some long untouched ground for the website this morning, starting at good old Percy Main - one of Tyneside’s few true pit villages. This place was all farmland prior to the Duke tapping up the seams.
