He nodded, following closely though to say he had no worries would’ve been a lie. But, Noah seemed friendly… and not crazy, so he continued.

“Well, count yourselves lucky that it was able to be dealt with,” he offered, trying to offer encouragement.

“It’s… it’s an uphill battle.” Every day felt like it’s own war but that meant the work was never ending. Maybe one day he could rest, but for now? He had work to do.

“Is your fault safe? I’ve heard… stories.”

“Don’t feel bad. We’re primarily in Appalachia but things took a rough turn for the original group… We’re mostly just volunteers here and there.”

He followed closely, pulling on the straps of his pack. “I figured there’s more than just Appalachia that needs my help, so I’ve been traveling.”

He shook it, offering a soft smile. “You should get some rest once we get up and going.”
