That’s a good question. I’m sure there are many. But what I can think of is that story wise, avoid trends and write what you want to write for the space. On the whole, there isn’t an idea that’s too big for kids.

Absolutely. There’s such a power in picture books because of that, it’s a collaboration between the author and illustrator to bring a story to life. ✨

Thanks! I’m glad I began my career in kidlit in this way. I’ve learned a lot! I think one of the best surprises came from working with an illustrator for the first time, some of the art that came about were things I wasn’t expecting, but loved and loved how it enriched the story!
