In short, it is a demographic that tends to view fiction with a separate lens than real world

I've been watching the parallels here in the states to 'think of the children' decisions, that result in silencing and harming marginalized voices in favor of sterilizing media to only socially acceptable content (*as dictated by conservative puritanism)

You'll usually see it in reference to what 'ships' are morally acceptable to enjoy, under the implication that if you like 'immoral ships' (things that would be questionable to deeply harmful irl), then you condone the behavior irl.

And it is about as 1-to-1 of United States puritanism but in a primarily queer demographic as you can get, it's extremely unsettling.

Replace 'anti' with 'puritan extremist' and you've got the jist. It does not matter what nuance there is in reality, the moral depiction of fiction is more important

This is a loaded answer considering these terms have been around for many many years, and they mask a very serious issue at this point

You are essentially seeing a culture war of what counts as "acceptable fiction", and if someone's morality is determined by fiction they consume
