I'm beyond sorry you went through this. No one should, and the wounds don't easily heal (if at all).

This hurts to the core, both because I can deeply relate but also because seems like it should be common sense how inhumane this is.

It hurts every time I see people who have these stories, hurts more seeing how many more are being shared now. Only now, because it's 'safer' to do so.

Just ran into this realization this week with a close family member. It's a special sort of devastating, like grieving a death almost...But a frustrating one, one that feels like it should be preventable?

A lot of this content IS widely disliked, makes others uncomfortable, etc. People have the right to be uncomfortable by it.

But let's be honest: calling someone a gooner for their weird interest instead of just stating "hey, I'm not comfortable with that". Harmful.

All of this to say, sometimes people are JUST weird. No actual harm involved.

I'm so tired of trying to explain why your average queer individual is less likely to be a predator over their fictional quirks, than a pastor over their public condemnations.

It doesn't have to be that deep. I really could just stop at 'I just think it's neat'.

But when something as innocuous as a fictional ship gets someone accused of the most vile and harmful real-world crimes, it feels like you need to justify your place in experiencing the human condition.

On a more personal level, I got cheated out of a childhood, got cheated out of a love life, and sometimes it feels like I got cheated out of a future.

This fictional space gives me a sandbox to explore what I lost, explore what gives me joy, explore the very process of being creative.
