I think the longest job I’ve worked was on owl house which was about a year and then a small break in between and legends of vox machina which was the same, but bruh that break in between is rough especially if you have issues getting unemployment, since they like to toss a wild card for funsies

Yeahhh it’s just how it’s been for a majority of people in the industry.
Sometimes bigger studios like Disney or WB will move people around to new projects, but it’s not garunteed. We do have a Union which is good, but in general most of your favorite shows are made by people who work gig by gig 🫠

so job security isn’t really a thing in the industry, it’s all gig based in one of the most expensive cities, and because of execs, ai, and overall corporate greed these projects are scarce. My industry is going through a depression and a lot of people were forced to move home or look for other work

Oh yeah the average full time animation position is about 6 months to a year maybe depending on the project, some projects are 3 months and in recent years productions that initially think are gonna be long term get axed midway

Like I know now its REALLY bad now, but this has been a constant since 2016.

While now im embracing the time off and wont be looking for full time animation work, I still do not miss the bureaucracy thats in store the next few months :'3

I think half the reason for my burnout was just the cycle of looking for inconsistent work, working a project for about 6 months then being unemployed and and looking for work for 1- 2 years and traversing the unemployment system while on food stamps.

As a person who has always had a very hostile relationship with their mother/creator and had to figure out life with the scars they left, parts of the movie touched me deeply in a very visceral way. It felt healing
