You mean this isn’t everyone every day?

Great accountability journalism here by my friend and colleague, Isabella

Classic example of a politician deliberately sticking to the message box rather than answering questions directly

It’s not Granville and Robson, it’s in the old Woodward’s building in Gastown

Establishing their own training centre wouldn’t be nearly so controversial if they’d proposed an industrial area, for example

Yes, it’s on the edge of the downtown east side but there are also lots of white collar workers living in condos within a few blocks so it’s very viable for businesses

Vancouver council greenlights police training academy despite concerns over funding and location Vancouver city council has backed a plan that supports a new training facility for the city’s police department.

This location is absolutely baffling

If anyone has ever heard of a police training centre in downtown retail/hospitality space in any other city please let me know

The romance genre is a notable exception and just goes to show how much work still needs to be done

Over 7K 'assault-style' firearms declared by British Columbians applying to buyback program | CBC News Over 32,000 illegal firearms have been declared so far nationwide in a program aimed at eventually collecting and destroying guns that have been banned by Ottawa.

This seems like a shockingly big number to me -- and on a per capita basis, it's far higher than Ontario

We really live in the most magical province

My dad and I drove through this area a few years ago on a road trip and this piece really does it justice

I regret viewing that game as a referendum on whether there is any justice in this world.

And knowing everyone is screaming at the TV in pyjamas

Prince Andrew's Arrest Across the pond in Britain, justice and accountability is a serious matter

Never in a million years did I ever fathom when I resurrected the Epstein story in 2018 that it would lead to first arrest of a British Royal in four centuries. Not since King Charles I was arrested in 1647.

A couple weeks ago, I decided to just not use the a clip even though I thought the intent was clear

Today, I heard someone say "duplicitous" several times in a live radio segment when I think it was clear they meant "duplicative"
Obviously, a huge difference and difficult to correct on-air

It's not a daily occurrence, but sometimes reporters have to figure out what to do when someone uses an incorrect word in an interview

Do you correct them? Assume they used a similar-sounding word? Will the viewer/reader/listener know what they meant, rather than what they said?

It's challenging

The hellebores are in full bloom and snowdrops have sprouted in Vancouver and it’s only mid-February

Considering the local mountains have got any snow, all signs point to another ugly summer ahead

Online misinformation complicates RCMP investigation of Tumbler Ridge killings British Columbia’s top Mountie told reporters that online misinformation and rumourmongering is complicating their investigation into the suspect’s activity and communications leading up to this week’...

We may never know exactly what led to the tragedy in Tumbler Ridge but investigators are trying nonetheless

My latest for @ctvvancouver.bsky.social includes BC’s top Mountie and one of the province’s most prominent child psychiatrists

The way parents have been pushing back on divisive narratives and showing compassion for everyone impacted is a true show of community. It says so much about Tumbler Ridge.
