And, as my psych supervisor told me years ago (I'm a psychologist), I am mindful that it's helpful to find ways to "get energy" from the meaningfulness of such endeavors ... (instead of "burning out"). β€οΈ

three reed stems topped with snow against a background of more snow
Snow falling, and having just written about Plotinus' portrayals of all manifest things as a "dance" of a One truth and source, I'm reminded of this Zen image of all things-and-one:
reed flowers in the snow.
Reed flowers are white. Snow is white. Neither being erased, they're together in suchness.

31.01.2026 14:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I sometimes do a little technique where I imagine that I've died and that before I go on to whatever comes next, I get to go back and re-live a random moment of my life. Not to change anything, but just to see what it was like. And it's this moment. π π [that is a post in reply to this one from "The Koan Brothers":] Good Morning my friends, and never forget the beauty of this truth: Every moment can be practice. And if you see your entire life as practice, you will always be okay.
This little exercise can possibly sound a little morbid, but the experience of is kind of the opposite...

Extended associationβin a college religion class, prof showed a clip of Hindu practitioner doing a ritual with his hands over his ears, so he "couldn't hear" the prayer he was reciting. Students laughed. I happened to know, so told them: "It means he's telling the truth" (like crossing your heart).

' 6.7.35.8-17, ibid., p. 195. "Delight" here is agastheis, which can also be translated "astonishment." The references to "contemplation" in these lines are all words that related to theoria and theaomai. The term "the continuity" in Greek is synechei, which also means "the holding together." I've changed mentions of "he" to "they." 2 6.7.36.17-24. For this quote I've combined elements of Armstrong's translation, ibid., p. 201, with elements from Gerson's, op. cit., p. 847, and I've changed "his" and "him" to "our" and "us," and I've used "That Itself" for where Armstrong had had "he himself" and Gerson had had "It itself." "Vision" in these lines is thea, the original root for the Greek words for contemplation, theaomai and theoria. The Greek word for "radiance" is auge, which also means "dawn." 3 And it's related to the noun, genna, "birth," which we saw earlier.
