The Strait of Hormuz is open for transit.
Oh, my goodness gracious. ❤️
I woke up to this downloaded onto my Kobo. Happy pub day to @diannalgunn.bsky.social! Go check out her new novel.
One of my (many) favorite things about this season of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is that they bookended it with two Rufus Wainwright songs and turned me into a fan of his music. 🖖
What a gorgeous story! I’ll definitely be sharing this with my students as an example of worldbuilding—and how much you can do with very few words!
I just remind myself it sounds the same as “asinine.”
It’s always a fantastic time. Here’s hoping for next year!
You too! And even though I won’t be there this year, at least I can count on Stadi and Eku catching up in the Shackleton Expanse this weekend!
"There were no books."
On the other hand, “Doctor Who and the Frisson of Transgression” was one of my favorite episodes of the 1970s Tom Baker era….
I guess I’ve arrived* as an author: I finally got one of those AI-slop book club emails.
*I have not, in fact, arrived.
Or—just a thought—I need to get my ass up to Ottawa for Can*Con.
Unfortunately, I won’t be getting to New Orleans this year for @sasfest.bsky.social but I’m already looking forward to the next time I can attend and catch up with friends like @jwden.bsky.social — if you’re thinking of going, I highly recommend it! #tbt
Beating Heart Baby has been on my to-read shelf for ages (like way too many other books). Taking this as a sign it’s time to take it down and give it a go.
Let it never be said that horny social media promo posts don’t work, because I just preordered this. (I *loved* Winging It With You and am really looking forward to this.)

And then I woke up—unfortunately, before I got to find out whether I had bullet-deflecting bracelets in the dream.
I have no idea what the hell I ate yesterday that kicked off this dream sequence….
Wonder Woman’s costume is, apparently, uncomfortable.
Me, the sidekick? The extent of my getup was a leather jacket and a mask. I got off easy.
A writer friend of mine was also there in the Jimmy Olsen support crew role. He apologized for being *really* hungover. In real life? He doesn’t drink.
Something had attacked the city the day before. And something *else* was about to attack the city.
There’s no shortage of Big Bads for the New York in my dreams.
Anyway, we were standing on an outdoor terrace and my boss said she was not looking forward to putting on the costume again.
Y’all, I had the strangest dream last night.
I was living in New York, and I was working for one of my previous bosses, but in the dream?
She was Wonder Woman. And apparently, I was her sidekick.
She gave me a hug and thanked me for everything I did to help her yesterday.
You can only boldly go in one direction, and that’s forward. Otherwise, you’re either retreating or standing still, neither of which strikes me as particularly bold.
Find out how their wild ghost chase turns out in “Roadside Assistance,” part of Three Left Turns to Nowhere. #QueerYA #WriterSky
Do you believe in ghosts? Lyn isn’t sure, but he’s been seeing one around his hometown of Hopewell, Ontario, and he can’t believe he’s told perfect stranger Ed about it. #1LineWed
(Oh, and I REALLY hope we get more Tilly in future seasons.)
I’m hard pressed to pick just one thing: Reno and Lura, episode 5, Jay-Den and Kyle (and maybe Darem? Jay-Den could follow his parents’ example), the fact that this is probably the most solid first season of Trek I’ve seen.
(Also, “shill cheques”—should we say “shillings”?)
And I really liked where it fit into the Star Trek timeline (because obviously I want as much Janeway as possible, but I also want more Gwyn—oh, and Wesley too, and Rok-Tahk, and…).
You may not like it per se, but you will get better, and I do find that satisfying, especially when I can do things like carry in all the groceries in one trip.
Lower Decks was so good. I would love more of that, more Prodigy, or something we haven’t seen before. I’m pretty Kirked and Piked out.
I’ve started building a playlist for the queer holiday romcom I’m writing, and it’s kind of all over the place. You know, like me. #WriterSky #QueerRomance
