UKIP never had an elected MP, but managed to leverage a preferendum whose narrow result was in turn leveraged into the hard Brexit that Leave promised would not happen.

Labour have a sufficient majority to pass ANY law without the cooperation of any other party.
In an emergency, new laws can be passed in 24H.
So there's no hiding behind "it's what we inherited from the Tories" to justify implementing or maintaining cruel or idiotic policies.

The result in Gorton and Denton can be looked at two ways in terms of Reform.
One is that a left wing challenger can fight Reform and win, fighting from the left.
The other is that Reform got 29%, the Tories 2%. This suggests Reform really is poised to replace the Tories and win many seats.
Reminder: the previous Labour government came as near as damnit to ending rough sleeping entirely, through focussed attention at the heart of government (remember the Rough Sleepers' Unit?). Perhaps something Starmer might like to revisit....
