Also highlights the errors of squad construction pairing up a keeper whoβs good with his feet with a backline who are the opposite with a ball playing midfield. Complete mismatch of talent all over the park.
Would rather a high upside keeper whoβs worse with their feet out there

Not pinning all our defensive woes on Freke. Merely saying he is compounding the issue as we are conceding more average shots this year and since Freke is one of the worst shot stoppers in the league conceded more average shots means shipping a lot more goals

It disregards OG as they donβt increase xGOT. Even if it did for the sake of funsies heβd still be bottom 3 in the league.
Heβs frankly not a good shot stopper. Those βsuper savesβ he made today are a great example of how he makes routine saves look super.

It doesnβt count own goals. Freke also has the tendency to make what should be routine saves look like a super save due to his poor positioning and body movement. Last year he was still in the bottom three on all metrics for shot stopping league wide.

And even then he wasnβt really that great. I felt for Aldred having to drop his line so deep regularly to try and increase blocking chances to hide Freke weaknesses.

Releasing Duke and letting Blackledge walk for pennies were major errors considering both are better than Freke, and thatβs before mentioning Holmes
14.12.2024 09:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Freke is the worst keeper in the league at shot stopping and itβs not close. His distribution is one of the best in the league but the ball playing of the Roars back 4 makes that strength redundant.

Would love him over Warland at this point. Go all in for youth development

L. Herrington getting a start is great news for Brisbane. One of several talented youngsters in the squad the roar should be looking to focus development on this year to aim to have a young winning core by 2026-27. MacNicol and Brazete are bench options who fall in this category also

Segecic is a gun. Would love to see him as a half space attacker in the national team set up. Perfect profile, potential and makes up for his lack of experience with extreme composure, sound decision making and high adaptability

I donβt apologise

Similar story to his time in Australia. Despite injuries wanted to be the primary striker and moved when Brisbane didnβt guarantee that opportunity, wouldnβt be surprised if a similar situation happened with Daggers and Salvesen

A reason for the reduced minutes is DβAgostinoβs one dimensional nature, doesnβt offer much in build up play aside from contesting long balls and isnβt a creative passer. So a move to a system that uses a pressing forward would be beneficial. Could well follow in Mitch Dukes footsteps
23.11.2024 23:37 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0
Sensational goal by DβAgostino. Has been brilliant as a finisher and presser in the minutes heβs been provided this season, his per 90 numbers are up there with the best in the league, but he simply hasnβt gotten enough minutes. With Vikings season over next week, I wonder if a January move happens
23.11.2024 23:34 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0
This Sydney FC squad is insanely deep. Have a second XI who would be competitive in the league

This game is full of potential Socceroos making a massive impact. JCP as a left footed outside CB would be a valuable depth option for Popovic

Agree, shame for Milanovic the next window is end of March, because based on form and ability he should be in the squad right now

Sapsford is also developing to be a natural Duke successor. Brilliant pressing, highly intelligent movement and is a big game player.

With the Socceroos struggling for half space attacking players outside of Hrustic and McGree, Milanovic and Segecic are two young options that need to be considered. Both of which are showing tonight they have the ability to step up on big occasions.

And a massively impactful moment by Milanovic in a game which hasnβt suited his profile.
