another year of #greatbritishmenu, another unrealistic crush on a beautiful, talented chef. this year, it’s ash valenzuela-heeger from the central region. imagine a heavily tattooed female version of james marsters’ spike from ‘buffy’, or a young annie lennox with cropped blonde hair. what a babe.

Just a shout out to magnolias. Aren't they the most magnificent blooms?

do you get migraines too? does it do anything for those, i wonder? if not, i’ve got my trusty migraleve, though that doesn’t always work for me, sadly.

i will! historically, drugs classified as opioids or benzodiazepines have never really had that much of an effect on me (either positive or negative). i believe gabapentin is a whole different ball game though so i guess i won’t know how it’s going to suit me (or not) until i try it.

i’m meant to be starting on 100mg nocte and tapering up to 300mg, which i can either take once at bedtime or split into three doses of 100mg each. i’m sort of hoping i won’t need to go up to the 300mg and maybe only take it in 100mg doses once or twice per day, but i guess we’ll see!

you’ve got to have 100, like fry in ‘futurama’, then you’ll be totally zen-like.

and my age being in the 35-44 range on surveys and whatnot is quite depressing too.

definitely! i have a feeling though that once the teams have all had enough practice with the new setups, there’ll be a bit less overtaking. that being said, it should level the playing field massively, so it really will become about the drivers’ individual skills. it’s all very exciting!

very much looking forward to the 2026 season. i’ve no idea what the new regs will mean - seeing as my anxiety has been sky-high recently, i thought i’d be apprehensive about all these changes, but actually i’m just too excited to have racing back to worry too much about it. #australianGP #formula1

On International Women’s Day a reminder that my Alice had a mother and a sister and grannies, aunts, girl friends and girl cousins.

They all loved her as a woman.

When the transphobes say they speak for all women and are protecting women and girls, they are wrong.

Italy claim historic first victory over England as Borthwick’s men are rattled in Rome At the 33rd time of asking Italy finally beat England, claiming a 23-18 Six Nations victory in Rome

Bravo Azzurri! Well deserved.

Instead of "England in crisis", the emphasis should be on how Italian rugby has crossed a major threshold. And the contrast with the poor state of Italian football is also culturally fascinating.

to try bring me out of my own head & build up my confidence again, i’ve been volunteering at the local theatre. i’ve been doing front of house for over a year, but today i helped out with the youth theatre workshops for the first time. it was glorious fun & i can’t wait to go back in a few weeks.

Kristi Noem has done a stunning amount of damage and it’s good she’s gone.

But this doesn’t change the fact that we need a complete overhaul of DHS, impartial investigations into the killings of two American citizens, and information on children that were taken from Minnesota.

absolutely! flanagan is to king as trashcan man is to randall flagg.

and rightly so! IMHO, no one since frank darabont has understood king’s work so well, and adapted it for the screen so lovingly.

yes, definitely this too! now that the duffer brothers aren’t doing ‘the talisman’, i’m hopeful that flanagan can and will add it to his roster. i think it’s even more likely (and even more necessary) now that the third book in the trilogy has confirmed ties to mid-world.

i mean, mike flanagan’s ’dark tower’ series is in development. we’re also getting a tv series of steinbeck’s ‘east of eden’ AND william gibson’s ‘sprawl’ trilogy, all of which i’m ecstatic about.

however, i’d love to see someone like darren aronofsky or the coen brothers tackle ‘jude the obscure’.

It's amazing how journalists can't accept that both of these statements can simultaneously be true. Zack is the sensible voice yet again.

oh, she sure is! i don’t think i realised until well after i’d finished the series, and was listening to a book about feminism, that diana was one of THE mitford sisters - and just how influential they all were (and how horrendous a few of them were).

right?! sam claflin plays him well. cillian murphy and annabelle wallis were hot together in the earlier seasons, and helen mcrory as polly gray is phenomenal. some other amazing actors have had cameos in the series over the years - my favourite of course being tom hardy’s alfie solomons.
